Thibs is a coach that will take a team that’s unheralded and turn them into a playoff squad. He’s a solid coach. He gets untalented guys to play as a unit and hide their flaws.

The problem is Thibs cannot elevate a team from good to great because he has certain flaws - such as his lack of adjustments on both ends of the floor, no offensive schemes at all, unexplained tight rotations, no ability to coach defense without a defensive shot blocking anchor, etc.

Thibodeau has reached the ECF once - 15 years ago with Chicago in his rookie coaching season. I don’t know why people treat him like Phil Jackson. His track record of taking bad or mediocre teams and molding them into good teams that play hard is great. His track record of taking good teams and turning them into elite ones isn’t.

Look at what a coaching change did for the Cavaliers. I don’t know why people sit here and can’t look at this objectively. You would rather continue wasting Brunson’s prime because you think a 68 year old who made the ECF once 15 years ago is the best coach for this squad. It’s maddening.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

No, just get rid of Thibs for being too stupid to realize maybe he should manage KATs minutes a bit.

That's ok though, he's only running Brunson, Hart and OG into the ground too.
Probably snap Mikal's games played streak any minute now, not that I would care.

So should Boston fire Mazulla since he's averaging more mins than KAT and has the same "injury"?

Hart and Bridges are 1-2 in MPG, OG is 6th, Brunson is 20th and KAT is tied for 23. We have 3 players in the top 10 for MPG, the Celtics have 1, we have 4 players in the top 20 for MPG, the Celtics have one. Hart and KAT both have tendinopathy, KAT had meniscus surgery last season and is playing the most MPG since he was 22 years old, and the only time he's cracked 35mpg since then. Comparing what we're doing to the Celtics, and a wings minutes to a bigs too? This is the nastiest of works Image

Kristaps has played under 30mpg the last two seasons, he is the direct comparison to KAT, since he's also a big.

This Moses Brown. Put some respect on this man's name. He would definitely be an upgrade over 40 year old Tucker.

Hart is averaging a whooping 1 more minute than Tatum. OG is averaging 1 more minute than Jaylen Brown. According to your logic, Thibs is trying to ruin their careers by playing them 1 more minute than Mazulla is with Tatum and Brown. Oh and don't forget, Jaylen Brown is playing with an right knee posterior impigment, who logged 42 mins last night. Comparing KP's injury concerns with KAT is laughable. Both aren't even remotely the same when it comes to being injury prone. You're reaching like crazy just to run with your anti Thibs agenda that doesn't even make sense.

I'm not downplaying the coaching change in Cleveland though I'd be interested in hearing what changes Atkinson actually brought to the team. To me, it seems like more about the Cavs maturing and gelling as a team that's been together for about 3 years. I think we have flaws, but we're also not healthy and haven't been together that long.

I think you make an interesting point, and it's possible that too much is being made of the extra minute or two that most Knick starters seem to be playing compared to their positional counterpart key players.

How much does that extra 1-2 minutes affect players? I'm not sure. Maybe not a huge amount.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2025_per_game.html

At the time of posting, Hart is 1, Bridges 2, OGA, 6, Brunson 19, KAT 23. The Knicks have a really thin bench too. Maybe Robinson will help and the minutes will be shared and reduced.

I think it's worth noting that on the Celtics:

Tatum, 36.5 minutes
Brown 35.3
White 33.7
Holliday 30.2
Pozingas: 28.9 (32 games)
Pritchard 28.1
Harford: 27.2

Only 2 of the Celtics 5 are over 35 MPG. ALL 5 of NY's are 35 MPG.

Now the Cavs:

31, 30, 30, 28, 25

Most teams don't have the depth the Cavs have. 30 minutes is probably easier to play than 35 or 37.9

The Thunder: 34, 32, 29, 28, 27

I don't think this is entirely Thib's falut. We don't have as good a bench as we used to. All the trades have depleted our bench.

2 key players for OGA
2 key players for KAT
I-Hart left in free agency, Mitch has been hurt.
Bridges was a little different, because Bogs wasn't really an essential player, but Grimes was used to make that swap work too (I think).

Bench used to be a strength for us, when healthy. Now we have no bench.
You can't spell hatred without red hat.

You said Tatum played more MPG than KAT, yet you conveniently left out that it was also a "whooping" 1 more MPG. Now that the Knicks have played more than the guys you're talking about, you try and diminish it. Bridges has played almost 200 more minutes total than Tatum, that is the equivalent of 5-6 extra games because he doesn't miss any, the Celtics have played 64 games, we have played 63. In one thread you're talking about how Tatum has tendinopathy to highlight how he's playing through it, and here you are using qutoes to minimize what KAT & Hart are playing through  Also, I don't care what injuries the Celtics have, **** those dudes, Brown's knee could collapse in on itself for all I care.

Comparing a 27 year old wing, to a soon to be 30 year old big with a history of knee injuries is nasty work. KP has played 205 games in the last 4 years and KAT has played 221, 51 vs 55 games per year, so yes they are comparable, especially since they play the same position and are 7 footers. What next, you gonna compare Derrick White's minutes to Mitchs? Image

Edit - Tatum has 13 games where he's played 40 or more minutes, 45 is his season high against the Lakers. Bridges has 25 games he's played 40 or more and has played over 45 minutes or more 3 times, and Josh has 20 games over 40 minutes, and 5 of them being over 45. This is all the same somehow
