Yeah I think he made a huge mistake with the wall/ his placement. Bruno's free kick was almost in the middle of the goal.

Raya saved them from a loss though in the second half with some brilliant saves.

The reaction from Rice's goal is why Arsenal have been dubbed "nearly men."

You've just equalized in the 74th minute in a must win match -- a draw is not enough. Instead of running to pick the ball out of the net, Rice hand gestures to calm down and then shushes the crowd in the corner.

Same reason why Arsenal were laughed at after defeating Manchester City 5-1. Why are you celebrating a win as if it was a trophy?

Nothing good comes from "calling it"....nothing. But that said.....yeah, I think this is a wrap. As long as we're able to field 11 men each week, I don't see us dropping 12+ points. And that would assume a perfect close by Arsenal...who seem more likely to drop points than we do.

So I guess I'm calling it?? There's half of me screaming to shut the hell up...

Arsenal look lost, because we our only attacking options are Trossard, Sterling and Nwaneri. One of which apparently has forgotten how to play football. They're playing almost everything every three days.

The board failed Arteta and the team miserably by not replacing Edu and not buying/loaning extra attacking options in january.

Taylor placed wall 11.6 yards away instead of 10 - that certainly had something to do with it . Did even worse to United last year when he put wall at 13 yards ( which was scored from that free kick as well). How these incompetent refs get away with it on regular basis?

That's fair, but everyone has seen Bruno get a free kick up and down from about that distance. If Raya started two steps to his left, it's an easy save. Just didn't make a lot of sense to think Bruno was going to hit a shot on his right foot from that spot and beat Raya to his right.

I can’t stand them but fair play to Newcastle, they deserved to win and were the better team today.

Liverpool looked leggy and at times felt that some players couldn’t really be bothered (Nunez in particular, think he knows he’s gone after this season).

Agreed, Newcastle were by far the better side, but I feel Trippier was very lucky not to give away a penalty for that handball. Hopefully Liverpool can regroup over the international break and finish strong.

They have 2 weeks to rest. And to let this fester a little bit, and gnaw at them. A wasted opportunity.

Perhaps a little soul-searching these next two weeks....some looking into the mirror. Do they want to win? Personally, I think that Nunez knows he's gone. TAA knows he's gone. I think at this point VVD and Salah are clear that they will not receive a 3-4 year deal. So their mind is elsewhere. I think you have our 2nd string goalie Kellaher wanting out. Andy Robertson knows he's gone. There's interest in Diaz from Barca. - In other words....this is a team that knows it's over. Slott has done a good job (maybe great job) steering the ship that Klopp built. But what will this team look like in a year or two when 7 or 9 of the starters are not Klopps men?? Slot has yet to prove himself there.

They need to look in the mirror, and understand that this is prob it for Liverpool for a little while. VVD and Salah, and (possibly) Diaz and several others are not just guys you replace. It's gonna essentially be a rebuild. They get the badly needed rest here. But it's up to the players now to remain 100% focused on the last 9 games, and stop drawing with teams they are much better than. If they can get back to some semblance of their Oct / Nov form....it'll be a wrap.

As good as this squad has been the last 7-8 years, it would be a shame for it to end with only 1 prem trophy. They need to focus up, and not let this slip away. Then there will be plenty of time for them to consider their respective futures.

How ridiculous was Paul Tierney on VAR in the Liverpool-Everton match?

Tarkowski should have been sent off for his challenge on Mac Allister. Gut feeling is because it was only 11 minutes into the Merseyside derby, Tierney didn't want to "ruin" the match.

Everton legend Duncan Ferguson, working as a TV pundit, said the Toffees' centre-back should have been given a red card, saying, "That's a straight red, he could have broken his leg. That's a red all day long."

I just don't understand what these individuals in VAR are missing time and time again... I expect we'll hear PGMOL say they got that one wrong.

EDIT: Simon Stone of the BBC confirmed the VAR review lasted 10 seconds. A whole 10 seconds. I bet Tierney and his mates were congratulating each other over such a call.

And there's the apology.

James Tarkowski should have been sent off during Everton's defeat at Liverpool on Wednesday, the Premier League's refereeing body has acknowledged.

The PGMOL says it wants to operate in a transparent way by admitting mistakes, and felt this incident needed to be addressed immediately, rather than waiting for referees' chief Howard Webb's next 'Match Officials Mic'd Up' appearance.

Wasn't much risk of that. Terrible game, but Chelsea deserved the win, Spurs didn't create anything of note.

It was a pretty dead game. Our wingers are the worst in the league, just horrible investments on Neto and Sancho. I'm not even convinced Estevao will be any good. Video game recruitment gone wrong when Olise was right there and wanted to join the club.

I gave Ange a lot of liberty for this season. The fact that his entire backline + keeper was out for what seemed like months is cruel and unusual but today was dreadful. Joint with Everton and West Ham for 16th. If there was a red line he'd have gone beneath that into the crust of the earth.

Same thing in BHA vs Villa...how Ramsey was not awarded a penalty is beyond me.

Villa have certainly not been great this season, but we are still in the hunt. A drop was expected with CL and a deep run in the FA Cup. That's a lot more football than we are used too.

Our January window business is the best I can remember for some time. Rashford, Asensio, Malen, Disasi and Garcia have all been valuable contributors and Rashford and Asensio have been absolute CLASS
