McDaniels/Randle/Dillingham+ picks for AD/Hardy/Powell? I think I'd do that.

I'd stick with McDaniels...and redirect Randle+Pistons FRP+Swap 26 + Lakers 29+ Klay to the Jazz for Markkanen...which leaves us with a super deep team until KI returns and several medium and valuable contracts to continue working towards the next deadline.
sign CP3 in FA
(Dillingham will have CP3 and KI as mentors...not bad)

Lively/Gafford
Markkanen/PJ/K.Edwards
McDaniels/Marshall/O-Max
Christie/Martín/Draft
CP3/Dillingham/KI

Yeah, and that trade has worked out so well. Not only that, they went on to make another fantastic trade for Beal.

It's a crazy idea, but perhaps Phoenix isn't the team to be pointing to in order to argue a player's value.
New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.

As a Jazz fan, I fully endorse this trade.

But I'm sure karmaloop would say Luka's value is an injured all-star, a young wing, and one first. Because after all.....

Prior deals have some relevance. Deals from 3 years ago have very little. Its been explained to him how if KD is still a great player then having one season and playoff run rather than 4 greatly reduces his value. He ignored that. And how if he's not still such a great player where losing those seasons doesn't matter much, well then that greatly reduces his value.

But as always if the Suns can get 4 unprotected firsts and good young matching salary for him, they should absolutely do that. :D

I get sunk costs and all that, but I just see no way the Mavs don't at least see what they have before shipping out the centerpiece they got in Luka trade. A player like Sexton, plus AD and Lively can keep them in the playoff hunt. Assuming that it takes Kyrie a full year to get back, he returns next March. That gives him 60 days before the playoffs to get into game shape. As long as there's hope, you have to try, because what comes after there's no hope is really painful.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Going back to AD offers..

Hartenstein, Caruso, Topic for Davis.

Then add the Philly pick and whatever other picks/value you feel is feel? And maybe Dieng or Joe to help keep OKC under the tax for a year.

Dallas can find value for IH/Caruso as part of the deal or else where. Play with the apron hard cap if you need to, but Dallas will be dumping salary throughout the offseason to likely get under the tax

OKC can keep their three young stars. See if Clay and company are willing to spend like Ballmer for a couple years. Or trade AD or Jalen after you win 70 games next season?

And Dallas tries to lose 70 games next year, but gives Kyrie a front loaded 4 or 5 year extension?

Build a young core of late lottery picks (Lively, Topic, 2025 Philly, 2025 Dallas first) and hope the 2026 pick is a star that makes it all worth it..? Kyrie hopefully is happy as a mentor/floor raiser, but will trade him if he asks.

If the Mavs move into the top 3 at the lottery and the Hornets move down to 5 or 6.

Hornets out: Nurkic, Josh Green, Tidjane Salaun, 2025 1st (# 5 or 6 pick), 2026 first (late first because it is the worst pick of 3 teams), 2027 Dallas first returned

Mavs out: Davis

If the Jazz fell out of the top three I would consider trading that pick plus other assets for AD. He wants to play PF which he could do with an up and coming Kessler. The Jazz would have to also be able to land some other decent PG player to go with Lauri, Kessler, and AD.

This is probably a bad idea as I am the champion of the tank and believe the Jazz have to tank next year as well, but I’m not sold on the guys outside the top three.

No way this is happening though. If Luka becomes 3 first round draft picks Dallas will go ballistic. Rightfully so. And I don’t think I would give up more than this years pick and one other FRP for AD on the Jazz. He’s probably bolting as soon as he can.
