UTA doesn’t capture the Flagg and picks #2 or #3

Post#1 » by AingesBurner » Mon Mar 10, 2025 2:18 am

Utah out: Sexton, George, Collier, Williams/Hendricks, and #2 or #3
Utah in: Maxey

Philly out: Maxey
Philly in: Sexton, George, Collier, Williams or Hendricks, and #2 or #3

Why for Utah: Get a starting guard to pair with Markky Mark and Kessler

Why for Philly: Kick start the rebuild with young guys and a high pick

Morey gets fired if he does this and Ainge probably does too.

Tanking for so many years only to settle on a permanent first round exit would just be kind of sad. What were the prior three years for then?

They can't really rebuild with Biid and PG13 there. Plus let's say they take Harper. Cool, so then you hope that he's as good as Maxey is now?

Assuming they keep Biid, which they wouldn’t.

I don't understand the direction of the Jazz here.. so they are stuck halfway with a Markkanen/Maxey/Kessler core?.. if I get the 2, I take Harper, if they get 3 Bailey or Edgecombe and make an offer to the 76ers.. Wolves FRP/Collier/Hendricks for McCain

Utah didn’t tank before this season. They were just bad. They shifted to a tank after midseason last year. But that’s because they were bad.

This is the first full tank they have done..

Maxey is 24. I wouldn’t trade him to kick start a rebuild. If the pick conveys to OKC, they can tank next season with Joel out and go into 2026-2027 with Maxey/McCain/one of the hyped forwards from next year class/Joel. No reason to rebuild if Joel can have a successful operation.

If they keep their pick this year, they owe a top 4 pick and shouldn’t tank.

Utah should stick to tanking. Would be better to trade Lauri at his current value and tank next season.

But if you’re doing this, you need to get aggressive and find the rest of your starting line up. Kessler/Lauri/Maxey isn’t a good enough trio on their own to push in for imo.

The Jazz traded Mike Conley, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, and NAW for one bad draft pick (probably like the 19th pick in 2027 at best?) at the trade deadline to intentionally miss the playoffs to keep their draft pick in 2023.

The Jazz were 27-29 and could have made the play-in, but tanked the last third of the season, going 10-16 after trading away four rotation players for nothing.

Regardless of what the situation with Embiid/PG ends up like, I don't see Philly trading Maxey or McCain for a collection of lesser pieces.

Yes. So two years in a row they didn’t actually commit to the tank until after/around midway through the season.

Making this the first full season tanking?
