Have the Timberwolves beaten a single good team during this Randle stretch or do only the Knicks have to beat top 3 teams to be considered a success?

Hopefully we can get a secondary creator next to Brunson this summer (Giannis).

If KAT doesn't regain that form and momentum he had in November, trading DD and Randle will start looking like a failure to me. One of my biggest concerns about a KAT trade before it happened was, if KAT joins this team, do you trust Thibs to use him correctly? If JB a pure enough PG to utilize him? I know it's the first season, but so far it seems 50/50.

That was one of my issues with trading Randle.. cause Randle took a heavy load off him playmaking for the team. We are gonna have to get a secondary creator this summer if we want to keep KAT, or just trade him and Mikal for Giannis.

Im a bit worried about KAT cause his game has been predictable. Hes either jacking up 3s or doing straight lines and it’s been like that for a couple years now. Teams have been putting wings on KAT and he doesn’t really know what to do. Especially in double teams he’s throwing the ball away, versus Randle would just kick it out to an open shooter. On top of that his defense.. a whole other story. But maybe that will look better when Mitch is healthy.

I am missing Randle and Donte. It sucks seeing them start to hit their strides in Minny while we are struggling.

I can’t even lie seeing Randle create soo many open looks for his team makes me tear up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Og & Jb were feasting off those passes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would have even helped mikal to some extent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Towns is the better talent but randle would be the better fit for this team!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes fit is greater than talent Folksssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, KAT is the better talent but Randle’s skill set made more sense for our roster.

the nuggets back on 1/25 is the only one. their schedule the rest of the way is pretty easy. they had kind of the opposite schedule as the knicks as far as their schedule was hard the 1st half of the year where as the knicks was easy. so that combined with divo struggling early etc led to people acting like knicks clearly won the trade when they were struggling and knicks had a good record.

i still don't think they even plan on keeping randle but we'll see. i think knicks would have more strongly considered keeping randle if he wasn't looking for a bigger payday - which is the same issue he'll have with Minny.

Yeah that’s a way more balanced team, and we would have a solid bench.

Randle doesn’t need to play for Minny to beat top teams. His leadership alone does the job for them.

If we’re breaking out the time machine, I’m pulling the plug on the Mikal trade, and then calling the Lakers up and sending KAT+picks to LA (reunite with D’Lo) in the Randle deal and getting back AD so we can trade for Luka later on

Fair point. Before the injury, they beaten Dallas, NY, Atlanta, Denver, to name a few. In the last 5 wins, the best team in that bunch was Miami. But they're handling their business on the weaker teams. Meanwhile, the Knicks haven't had a blowout W in months.

I’m not even sure Minny are contenders. Both teams were better off not doing the trade imo

Exactly. If any of this BS above on this page picks up steam, this place will be the laughing stock of the internet (if it isn’t already). Some dudes just can’t be taken serious.

Trading Randle for KAT was a no brainer trade. KAT is the better talent, the issue is the coach has run him into the dirt and now he has a lingering knee issue. He also needs to play PF.

Trading for Mikal was a huge mistake and Leon cannot be afraid to pivot this summer.

Trade Mikal, move Tom to the FO

I’ve been here for twenty years lol wtf do you even want? And I’m still here for good reason because unlike the never-satisfied-faction I like this roster more than any other of this century and that’s because we got rid of Randle. And to your point, the way folks have been acting around here, maybe some should’ve left along with their beloved ex-Knicks instead of extensively mourning their losses on a daily. It was easier to hate on Layden or Isiah collectively here than it apparently is to have a team ranked somewhere between the league’s top three to ten. I actually like this team.

What’s more, calling Randle a hub is not acceptable basketball analysis and I will always stand by that take.

I don't think it's a no-brainer. Better talent doesn't mean better fit in Thibs' established system. Having 2 ISO players was clicking because teams needed to decide who they were going to double. I think both rosters has their strengths and weaknesses. I said all along, if Thibs (and JB) don't know how to utilize KAT, I rather have Randle and Donte with Hart going to the bench. I'm not happy with Thibs overall performance this year. He has taken a step back in the growth he had last season. I guess perceived growth at this point. Thibs offensive playbook is ISO heavy. If he's preaching ball movement and the team isn't listening, then that's a different issue.

It's a poor stretch from KAT at the moment, so I don't want to dump on him too much, but this team needs that November KAT to roar back. Anything less is a failure.

Return to New York Knicks
