Going to be a fun day lol

In recent years, he’s become overlooked as one of the top DTs. Some of that is just the natural decline in talent that comes with age, but he can still bring a lot of value for a team. If recent history predicts his pay, he’ll get a 10-12m deal.

Assuming DE and C are the priorities for Free Agency, I don’t think we will be able to afford these top vet DTs. Hopefully there’s a handful left over after the draft and we can snag one of them at a cheaper rate

Not surprising. harbaugh really wanted him back and even put some public pressure on the gm to get it done. It would have been tough to lose two starting DEs on a defensive team

Malcolm koonce is my next choice. He would have broke the bank if he hadn’t gotten hurt. We might be able to steal him for a 1 year prove it deal. But anything that hovers around the Mack money would be ok with me.

I would hate to be a GM trying to negotiate the salary cap. Paying a CB 25M/yr- that's about 1/10 of your total cap. It's an interesting arms race going on- as the cap goes up, so does what teams are willing to pay for players, and so player's demands go up as the market goes up, and GM's are constantly trying to squeeze as much talent as possible under the cap. Makes the GM position (or the cap expert, if you have one), more and more valuable all the time.

Sorry to read that- he would have been a great fit here.

Yeah. He’s been one of my favorite players even before the bears traded for him, so I would’ve been happy to see him back at any amount, really

He would have been. But there are so many other options that it’s hard to be disappointed. Additionally, you’d have to think that he would have wanted even more from us, which I probably wouldn’t have been on board with.

As a side note, I’ve got a little crow to eat because I was adamant that he wouldn’t get more than 15M.

Well, PFF was off too- I think they predicted 2/45. Maybe he took a hometown discount to stay put.

Sounds like Fields is not that happy with the PIT org: "Fields likely doesn’t trust the Pittsburgh Steelers to do the right thing—and even if he did, why on earth would he sacrifice the opportunity to make more money elsewhere by signing a contract extension with a team that has been more dishonest and disloyal than his previous home, the Bears?"

That’s unfortunate. Steelers have been my second favorite team my whole life so I was excited to seem him get traded there. And then with his early success I was sure he’d be the qb of the future.

I think it’s safe to say he’s gotten a raw deal for his career so far. Hopefully if he doesn’t land a starting spot, he gets to go somewhere that will use him the right way. Titans or jets would be the obvious option for a starting job but I think the dolphins would be the best spot for him long term. Hes guaranteed to get playing time backing up tua and mcdaniels can work magic with him

Anyone know any good free agent “trackers”. I usually rely on espn but they are inconsistent

SF also cut Maliek Collins. He’d be a good rotational DT for the right price.

Also, the ravens resign Ronnie Stanley. So he’s off the board. If he was even ever on it

Haason Reddick probably just set the floor for notable DEs. 1/12m, 14 guaranteed.

Also, Jaylon Moore just signed with the chiefs for 2/30. I was hopeful he wasn't viewed as a starter and we'd be able to get him for backup money. Nope

Would've loved Reddick to be honest.

Godwin back to the Bucs, 3 years 66 million. Bad deal for Bucs IMO.

I feel like Allen’s deal will be skmewhat linked to godwins. Which probably means he’s officially too expensive for us
