Great news if he actually does make it back...but I predict if he plays 3 minutes and they lose, he'll get blamed for it.

I don't see how JK will get any blame for the rest of the season. He's been out for over two months. He's going to be rusty, and they're going to manage his minutes. The team had a major trade and overhaul to the roster since the last time he stepped on the court. The main rotation players have changed (or their minutes have changed). He'll have to modify his game from hero-ball to a much more team oriented style.

From the Bucks game thread:

DaHef wrote:At some point, people will have to stop mentioning JK's age when discussing his lack of bbiq. Podz, Gui, and Moses are all 22 and they keep improving (and hustling) when given minutes. IMO, all 3 have passed JK up in value to Kerr's game plans and hopefully Kerr will keep giving those 3 the minutes they have earned. The race is too tight to have the luxury of waiting on JK to improve after playing 5,458 NBA minutes. Post is also improving but with 508 NBA minutes under his belt he's just rookie raw.

JK has been back a few games after a long layoff.

Hopefully he improves.

I don’t think we can rule out him having a significant role the rest of the season and in the playoffs yet.

One thing that he can do that the other young players can’t do is go to the hole with force and above the rim athleticism as well as get a shot off one on one. He may not do it well enough but the other players can’t do it at all.

So he’s the only lob threat in the dunker spot and in transition, I trust him more than almost every other player to go strong or draw a foul,

Dray and Steph are both going to look to throw ahead, get some easy baskets. It often leads to turnovers or missed layups or the ball being pulled back to set up half court offense because most of these other players don’t finish well enough.

So we should be hoping that his play improves from this point on.

Seems like his ankle is not right yet, or he's not confident in it.

Ironically, Kuminga's struggles, both self-inflicted and not, may be making it more likely he returns. If he was playing right now like he was before he got injured, I'm pretty confident some team would offer him $30M+ per year. Now it might be half that. He's sort of a mess (to be fair, still not 100%) and with these setbacks, it's highly unlikely he'll be a major factor in a playoff series. Kerr is going to go with the guys he knows and trusts, clearly.

Works in Warriors favor if Kuminga takes the QO this offseason. We can use our full MLE if that happens.

Half of $30 million seems too low. $20 million seems the minimum.

Big on the boards but also attacked the rim vs. Lakers.

3. He returned in totally different team. Wiggs was shooting 3 (5.8 3PA .380 3%), Butler cant shoot at all. Kuminga cant play with Green/Butler b/c of bad spacing. Also we have Payton/Looney...
4. Cant hit 3P at all after injury. Before injury shooted .373 on 3.9 3PA in last 17 games.

He needs calm down at first. Doesn't force anything, get into rhythm first, find a place into new team and everything will fall into his hands. To play with 3 high BBIQ players, who are good passers, you will have plenty opportunities to score especially with such athleticism. Getting self-confidence will also open up opportunities in ISO situations.

I think he's finding his role on offense. He was way too quick to break the offense and look for his shot when he initially came back. This game and the game before he was trying to run more offense. Not just looking to attack, but making normal passes to keep the offense moving.

If JK can maintain his focus on rebounding and defense he's going to find his role.

kuminga tries too hard to be kobe. when he plays within his role and focuses on rebounding, rotating well, making plays for others and being a chaos agent he's an elite 6th man
