Seems like to me howie is bracing for the GINORMOUS contract extension he will give Jalen Carter next year.

I'm more surprised that CJGJ was levelheaded about the trade than I was about the trade itself.

Safety is just not that important of a position and Sydney Browns has potential and two years left on his rookie contract.

Kenyon Green is the next Stoutland project.

That part did surprise me, that he didn’t talk **** after being traded.lol he tends to talk **** about his previous teams. But yeah the move itself probably isn’t too surprising. The secondary is stacked with young talent, might as well try to see what they have there while saving money for other key positions.

That being said, there was a report that supposedly the eagles were a finalist for Justin Reid. So I don’t know what to think.lol

The Vikings haven’t had a good interior O Line since the Hutchinson/Birk era which is sadly 15 years ago.

So ya the Fries/Kelly upgrade is more than welcomed for me haha.

The Guard market is insane.

Will Fries- 5 years, $88m (Vikings)
Aaron Banks- 4 years, $77m (Packers)

Aaron Banks is an average starting Guard who got $19m per year. It's lunacy.

Winning both sides of the trenches has always been a go to saying for how to build a championship level team for basically ever.

But I do feel like the Eagles beat down of the Chiefs probably opened up some eyes. It is a copy cat league and I think many front offices saw what dominating both sides of the trenches can do to one of the more dominant dynasties we've seen.

The Eagles D line just destroyed the Chiefs interior O line all game long and it completely shut that offense down. And on the flip side, Eagles rushed for close to 150 yards, Hurts had all day to make throws and a 3rd (or 4th) and very short was basically an automatic 1st down.

I think we're just entering the best time to play O line and D line in the NFL. Those guys are going to end up being the 2nd highest paid group, only behind QB.

And with that said, get ready for very average players at those positions to start getting paid ridiculous money. Aaron Banks by like every metric has him as average or slightly below average Guard. I saw PFF projected him to get a 3/25 contract this summer. I know PFF isn't gospel and all. But no one was thinking "damn this Banks guy is special!"

Basically just replacing Von in the same role. And for a lot cheaper than Von was supposed to make this year.

Bosa on less than 13 mil is a damn good deal. They will keep his snap count low and try and keep him healthy.

Von Miller's last year of athletic supremacy was with the Rams. And the reason why, he like only played half the season. He was fully fresh anc healed up. And 90% plus from Von Miller was all they needed, when playing next to Aaron Donald. That front line just massacred Tom Brady that playoff game. But when he got to the Bills, they seen what he did with the Rams, and thought they were getting the same guy. Injuries ensued. This is what I'm seeing with Bosa. If the Bills can squeeze his last remaining 1 or 2 years of athleticism from him, that would be good.

I wonder how Mekari stacks up

Cause from what I hear, he's average to below average, and we got him for 3 years 37.5, which is 12.5 per

Which is like, something of a theme with the Jags, is none of our OL are on value deals per se (other than Anton Harrison who's a rookie), but none of them are on huge deals either. The highest value contract we signed on the OL is Walker Little, at 3 years 40 million (26 guaranteed) which isn't nothing but it's only the 50th highest total (49th highest average), just under what Drew Dalman, a C, got from Chicago

Which means we're free to draft OL and not need them right away but be able to move on from the current guys if they are, and I think that's the plan right now. I wouldn't be surprised if we take Will Campbell at 5, but we can go in a bunch of directions there.

Allen and Hargrave on the D line. Fries and Kelly on the O Line.

Had the money to spend and I’m very happy with how they spent it. If only Kwesi wasn’t the worst drafting GM in the league…

The Hawks we're reportedly in on Fries as well. But...5 years, $88m? Yeah, they we're never going to pay that much lol.

The Vikings haven’t had a good interior O Line since the Hutchinson/Birk era which is sadly 15 years ago.

Allen to me is the only one to me that makes me say “really, we had to spend that much”. But if there is a position to over spend a little, it’s on the interior line on both ends. Also curious what the Hargrave contract is going to look like.

Still curious to see Hargrave's contract. But seeing the Allen contract details. Damn HR deal in my opinion.

It's actually 3/51. Only 31 of that is guaranteed. Easy out after the 2nd year. If they cut him before the 3rd, 4.5 mil dead cap, but the 22 mil comes off the board and they would save 17ish mil. Plus a cap hit of just 2.3% of the cap this year.

NFL contracts are just crazy. The initial reports can always sound so bad. But once the details come out, you realize they most likely will only see like half of what was initially reported.

they are made up and don't matter

There are restrictions, like the Saints are essentially in a death-spiral where they have to keep doubling down and creating more cap space now for issues next year, and while the wheels haven't completely fallen off for them, they're stuck in purgatory over it. That's where you get them restructuring Carr to have a $70 million cap hit in 2026 and $40 million in void money for 2027 if they don't re-sign him

I don't fully understand how it works, like I'm not a cap guru, I just know that there's a lot you can get away with but the more you do it the more you have to do it just to be cap compliant.

I wouldn't have traded for him, and I'm in the minority of Jags fans, but I would like us to pick him up on a cheap and/or short deal

Our WR room is BTJ and then essentially nothing, even a Kupp who's a shell of himself would be a good addition.

Yeah, it is a myth that you can just do whatever you want with the cap. If you keep pushing your cap problems to future years, it is bound to bite you in the ass at some point.

It's pretty well known that they have no plans to resign him after his rookie deal. He's not a favorite in the locker room. And the constant off the field issues have worn thin on the coaching staff.

Browns are envious of Steelers quarterback situation and now they are trying to sign every one of their quarterbacks.

Aaron Rodgers to Steelers must be a lock.

Can’t make this stuff up. Guess the prophecy has to be fulfilled.
