Yes, on the face of it they can say only $27 million guaranteed but unless you think they're going to cut him after a year he's going to see over half of the money in this contract in the first two years. That 3rd year is the obvious "he's probably not getting that money as is" point. Paying him a $9.5 million roster bonus and then a $13.1 million base salary in 2027 seems unlikely unless he's playing at an All-Pro level.

Definitely a cost of doing business on Day 1 of free agency contract.

Yea, he's almost assuredly locked in for 2 years barring any sort of disaster. And even cutting after 2 years would leave them with $13.5 mil of dead cap, so if he's decent I expect he's here for 3 years and then they move on at that point
Yeah it's 2 years then restructure or release. Yes, they CAN get out after 1 but they didn't do this with the intent on it being 1 yr 27 mil.

Im not very familiar with either dude they signed but they definitely need depth at both positions.

Do we even know what happened with Jaire? Where did the falling out come from exactly? I don’t ever remember seeing a specific reason how we even got to this point. I always like Jaire although I’ve felt he was overrated a little bit and never really the top 3ish CB he was deemed but I would never deny he’s been a good player when on the field for the team. I don’t like the idea of replacing him with a rookie, Nate Hobbs, Keisan Nixon and Carrington Valentine tho. Especially when you have a lackluster pass rush, do something impactful about that and make it easier to get away with mid tier CBs. We have the back end and middle of the field in good hands now with X, Williams, Bullard and Cooper. A trade for Trey Hendrickson can’t happen soon enough but likely doesn’t happen at all. Sigh.

Maybe the locker room stuff with Jaire is worse than they're letting on, but all of this just screams "we can't pay a guy who only plays half the season top CB money". I don't know why it has to be any more complicated than that.

There is no need to make a quick decision on Jaire.

If Gute can hold out until the draft, you might get a team desperate enough to toss an early Day 3 pick for him.

There's no need for most teams to cut players immediately, but they do it anyway.

Yeah, that at least makes some sense to me. There’s just been zero transparency with the situation. He’s hurt and then all of the sudden “done in Green Bay”. Happened all the sudden there’s gotta be underlying issues. He’s a large personality player so if he’s creating a toxic environment then yeah you just cut your loss and move on but doesn’t that eventually become news worthy at some point?

Most of the time it's a favor to the agent/player, let's them try to find a new team sooner.

I'll maintain that unless they plan on making another big move i just don't season a big reason to cut him unless they are worried about him being a locker room cancer.

They have the space for rookies plus room for any extensions they might want to do so really what's they point of cutting Jaire to open up additional space?

I guess i get ripping the band aid off early if they really want to get it out of the way but I've also seen it suggested they label him a post June 1st cut and that would make absolutely zero sense to me unless they have a deal in place to bring in a guy like Hendrickson and they need the immediate space.

Barring that keep him and simply roll the dice on him staying healthy. He gets hurt again then cut him next season and you're no worse off for wear this season while keeping the off chance he stays healthy and you have a top flight CB

That would legitimately surprise me but it would be fun. I just can't see Gute getting into a bidding war over him though so I feel like it have to be a thing where we wants to come here for something reasonable.

Kupp on a 1 year cheap deal is fine even if I think he's mostly washed. My main question would be, is he just the backup in the slot to Reed? They are both slot only guys and I can't imagine you'd bench Reed for him

Packers are always linked to everyone, but usually sign nobody. My son learned this the hard way as he really thought we were going to acquire both Davante and Maxx Crosby. I tried to tell him but he doesn't understand these rumors.

If Kupp wants to come to GB for a 1 year minimum deal it could happen but something tells me he would rather stay in the dome or warm weather for at least 8 games per year. I think he goes to Detroit or SF.

The "have interest in" and "eyeing" comments always come from agents.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I’d love a flier on Kupp. Throw him in the slot on 3 WR sets and let Reed get some action on the boundary. I don’t hate that idea at all as long as we’re proactive in the draft and use a day 2 pick on a WR at the very least. Still hoping for 1 of the top guys I like, Luther Burden III I like a lot.

Don't cut Jaire, unless you're going to trade for Hendrickson

If you trade for Hendrickson you'll have to give him a new deal, and I don't love doing that for a guy in his age 31 season. I know he's awesome, but unless it's for something like a 3rd rounder I'd pass.
