Officer Bridges has been working deep undercover for months, this is his first statement, and it's a damning one. Thank you Mikal for your bravery and service to the minutes police, we award you Icy Hot.

We were right all along. About EVERYTHING: The need to keep the starters minutes in check, the bench has capable players, the need to play and develop the bench, expand the rotation, starters are tired, guys run out of gas in the 4th quarter, stop randomly pulling bench guys who are cooking, etc.

Image

Mikal is the collective voice of the PLAYERS. He's keeping it 100. Thibs is a terrorist maniac.

Welcome to the force, Mikal!

Thibslobbers 'bout to write a 100-page theorem on how Thibs can do no wrong, minutes don't affect Knicks players, and Mikal is a liar and soft.

Yep! Here come the Thibslobbers who will say Mikal aint doing well on offense, ignoring the fact that he’s dead tired by the fourth quarter because he plays the most minutes in the league out of every one.

They’ve been waiting for this to call him soft now. He’s right though.

The evidence of abuse was always overwhelming, it was unfathomable that we had people on here defending this practice, especially after the team fell apart last season.

Mikal did the lords work, every single team he's coached for, someone eventually has come out to say the minutes are too much, every stop. The national media had started to pick up steam against Thibs in the recent weeks with podcasters talking about how we don't do anything on offense other than Brunson, now the media will be there monitoring minutes because they can create drama since Mikal put it out there.

I'm ready to bump Mikal up from officer all the way to Captain, he deserves commendation.

chasing around the leagues best players while also carrying a load offensively...while the league is playing at a high pace is just not sustainable.

Not just about injuries...its also about on court performance late in games. You have to chase around Brown or Tatum all game and then when they sit you chase around Pritchard...so that when Brown or Tatum come back in our guys are still on the court.

Also you play your bench even if they are struggling because you need to instill confidence and consistency with them. They won't get into a rhythm with spotty minutes.

In the playoffs limited minutes is one thing because you typically have rest before each game and its win or go home. But playing playoff minutes in the regular season is always been a crutch for Thibs.

“We’ve got a lot of good guys on this team that can take away minutes. Which helps the defense, helps the offense, helps tired bodies being out there and giving up all these points. It helps just keeping fresh bodies out there.”

Bridges said Thibodeau was receptive but “sometimes I think he just gets in his ways.”

“I think he’s not arguing about it. Sometimes I think he just gets in his ways and he gets locked in. He just wants to keep the guy out there,” Bridges said. “Sometimes you’ve got to tell him, like Landry (Shamet), for example or somebody, keep him out there, they’re playing well.”

Maybe if he uses some of those extra minutes learning to play in Thibs complex systems instead of running around in circles all night he wouldn't be complaining!! How many opportunities does he need?

What does he know? He was only a good player for three weeks back in 2022!

It is crazy that Josh and Mikal are 1st and 2nd in mpg, while OG is 6th

Brunson is 19th, KAT is 23rd

Hopefully with the PJ addition and Mitch being back, it reduces all the starter's minutes

Shamet has shot the lights out the last 20 games (45% from three on 2.0 3pa/g) so he has solidified himself as a rotation player

McBride is the youngest player in the rotaiton. I don't see why he can't get a massive boost in minutes. Now with Brunson gone, hopefully McBride can show he can handle the increased role.

The ironic thing is that even though Thibs is so reluctant to give young guys and bench players opportunities, sooner or later, they get their own opportunity to play 30-40 minutes during the season because of Thibs

I think Mikal isn't speaking so much for himself but more for some of his teammates who won't confront Thibs. I'm sure a few bench guys complain behind the scenes about getting some more burn also.
