Re: Bears 11.0: Free Agency, College Pro days, Draft & beyond
I'dl like to see us finish out FA something like this.....
DJ Humphries, OT/G: 1.5m - has versatility on the line and has familiarity with Thuney
Kwon Alexander, LB: 1m - Has had success playing with Allen before
Elijah Moore, WR: 2/9m - Played really well as a WR3 in Cleveland. He's young and might be a major bargain
Kyle Juszczyk, FB: 1/3m - Self explanatory
Bonus: Azeez Ojulari, Edge - I expected him to be signed by now to a decent contract but maybe I over estimated his market. If we can be had under 10m, I would maybe be willing to neglect other needs in FA and just finish it off with Ojulari. But, the best case scenario would be if we could afford all five without doing too much with future cap.
After that, we have no major needs and have the freedom to do almost anything we want in the draft
First, trade back to late teens early twenties, and acquire a 2nd and 4th
RD1: Tyler Warren, TE
RD2: Donovan Jackson, OG/OT
RD2: J.T. Tuimoloau, DE
RD2: Trey Henderson, RB
RD3: Billy Bowman Jr, S
RD4: Donte Throton Jr, WR
RD5: Jack Nelson, OT
RD7: Cam Jackson, DT
RD7: Seth McLaughlin, C

RIP John Feinstein. I read a couple of his books on golf. He was quite prolific and covered a variety of sports. Good writer, he'll be missed. Only 68.

Really feel like Poles has done a good job in FA of positioning the team to take BPA out of a huge bucket players. Beyond Graham or Carter falling to 10 which isnt going to happen there's at least 5-6 guys I wouldnt be shocked at all to see the Bears draft. And thats probably as good a reason as any to trade back if they can find a willing partner. Takes 2 to tango though.

Outside of more depth for both lines, I think you could also say safety, linebacker, and CB all deserve some attention. Particularly LB- who do we have after Edmunds and Edwards now that Sanborn is gone? And possibly another WR, depending on whether or not they pick up another vet in FA.

Outside of swapping Walker for Dayo (seems like a lot more money for similar production), it has been a good off-season in terms of need.
I disliked letting Sanborn go, but that could be the "Bear fan" in me. You know Chicago loves us some underdog type guys. Local kid, undrafted FA to starting LB in the NFL? Come on....like an undrafted Chris Zorich, who's birthday is today as well. Happy Birthday!

there's your wr3 for ya. seems like a Grinder/hustle type who can play on the outside or in the slot, so that seems like a pretty good fit for what our offense will presumably look like

So would that confirm that Allen is pretty much gone and we're giving Rome a much larger role (as expected)?

I thought they would keep Sanborn as well just because he's cheap, plays a position that only sees the field about 20% of snaps, and plays ST. Maybe Allen wants someone with more upside or a better pass rushing SAM, but Sanborn seems like a pretty good bang for your buck deal.

Anyone know what the new WR signed for? I see it's just a 1 year deal. He had over 500 yards last season, so he's not a complete scrub.
I noticed that in order to get DK Metcalf, the Steelers gave up a 2nd RP (along with swapping some lower picks). And then re-signed him to a 5 year deal.

I’m guessing, he’s still gonna have to make the team. 5’8. Seems like one of those roster guys that can return punts, so you know, versatility.

That Emmanwori dude does look interesting, the speed he has on that one pick at 2:14 is insane. Also seems tough and a good tackler and reads things well but the size and athleticism is pretty crazy.

This is probably one of the reasons that BJ would want him on the team. He loves WRs that want to block.

Never heard of him. Seem a tad short, but it does look like he led Washington in punt returns last year with 17 for 179 yards. Crowder was next with 8 for 81 yards. No one else had any. He did not have any KR's, and only has 3 KR's in his career. For that matter he only has 20 PR's in his career.
DeAndre Carter had 17 for 158 yards with us last year. He led the team in PR's. Blackwell had 7 for 146 yards including a 94 yard TD.
Carter also had 15 KR's last year.
Interesting...

He's my #1 target for a 1st round trade down, no lower than #18. The draft simulator is always offering up Seattle #18 + #52 for our #10. I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. I'd take Emmanwori eithout hesitation. Dennis Allen would have one hell of a defense. Both EDGEs set, at least a 3 man rotation at DT (I would grab Tyliek Williams with #39 giving us a 4 man rotation at DT), depth at Safety, CB, and we can get a lower round LB in the draft. Emmanwori would be such a weapon, even covering punts and kickoffs. He's rated 100% on tackling on the nflbuzz rating site. Built like a linebacker with 4.38 speed, a 43 inch vertical, 6'3" with decent arm length. He would be a game changer for us. The best Safety attacking the run, great range in coverage, able to handle TEs one on one, and Dennis Allen would have another potent pass rushing option on blitzes.
My Draft wish list after the trade down would be #18 Emmanwori; #39 Tyliek Williams DT, #41 either Jonah Savaainaea or Eireontae Ersery for OT depth and at #52 Quinshon Judkins RB. Then BPA with our 3rd round pick and beyond.

Yeah the more I see or read about this kid the more I like him and that trade down would be great. He hits hard and covers the run well but with that speed and jumping ability is great covering passes and the tackling seems elite. The speed is shocking though he does cover ground at an insane rate. Seems really competitive and tough too, one of the articles says he has the dog in him so we got that covered lol. I like him a lot, also really like Tyliek Williams in the second round he has good size and seems pretty versatile. I was thinking him and Zabel if we could in the second round would really solidify both lines but Zabel may be gone by then so I'd be good grabbing a OT.
