His value should be neutral or slightly positive, and he needs a good playmaker, or he'll continue to decline. He's not a player who will increase in value on a bad team, but he's a luxury addition to a good team. Claxton + Knicks 25 FRP (now 26) for Maxi/Vincent/Milton + Lakers 31 (unprotected). The Nets are expiring his contract and are trading a late FRP for an unprotected future. ....

Claxton's contract was deliberately front loaded. It decreases by 8% per year while the cap will be going up by about 10% per year. It'll be about MLE money by the final year, which is all the more appealing to a team that is looking to control future cap.

BRK sends: Claxton and Cam Johnson
ORL sends: Suggs and Cole Anthony (expiring/TO)

A real building block for BRK. I consider Claxton and Johnson highly-compensated role players. ORL should prefer to shed KCP, who is clearly redundant to Suggs (but Older and much lower ceiling) but, due to his unfortunate shooting slump this season, KCP won't have much, if any, trade value, given his $23m deal. ORL hates to give up Suggs, but needs to build a better-fitting team that complements Paolo & Franz more effectively, so Suggs is the unfortunate odd man out.
