Charlotte/Philly draft night blockbuster

Charlotte trades: #6 pick/Bridges/Nurkic
Philly trades: #2 pick/Paul George

Charlotte moves up so they can get Dylan Harper who is the clear 2nd prize of the draft. They take on the PG contract but he's also a good vet to have to mentor Brandon Miller. Lower expectations in Charlotte for PG.

Philly does this to get off the PG contract while also getting back the better player in Miles Bridges which keeps their championship window with Embiid open. They also get a little cap relief with Nurkic's expiring contract and they only move back 4 spots in the draft.

Seems like a win/win scenario for both teams.

The Embiid window is for all intents and purposes closed. Deals like this keep getting posted, but I don’t see how they make any sense at all for the Sixers. Even if the angle is to trying to compete next year, they’d be better off keeping the pick and hoping PG bounces back. He won’t either, but the ceiling is so much higher than taking something like this.

Nothing about these trade downs sound like Morey to me. Bridges doesn’t fit at all either. Whether it’s fair value or not isn’t really the point.
