Paul George
I feel like i have been vindicated for all of my PG dislike. I didnt follow his game before he came to the Clippers so all of my analysis is only based on his play as a Clipper. I even gave him over a year to cement his role. The bubble was my last hope. All he had to do was be mediocre and we probably make it to the finals.
Thank you PG for forcing the Clippers to give you a 4th year. It will go down as the best non move the Clippers have ever done.

Re: Paul George
He may as well start podcasting again...He has scored 7 points for the month of March, and is now 'consulting' with doctors on taking the rest of the year off so Sixers can try to keep their 1st round pick.

His contract is worse than Bradley Beal's, who is gonna take him? Not even Phoenix should be that desperate.

Philadelphia on Feb. 28 ruled out 2022-23 league MVP Joel Embiid for the rest of the season, and now George is likely headed down the same route.
Philadelphia's first-round pick in this year's NBA draft is top-six protected; otherwise, the selection goes to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 76ers (22-43) have hovered around having the sixth- or seventh-worst record in the league in recent weeks.

Oh man the 'tour dates' comment is hilarious
If he wasn't so corny I wouldn't be dogging him. But he is.

I truly soured on him after he made the B team comments.
However, I will give him a lot of credit for the 2021 run to the conference finals as he really did step up after Kawhi got injured.

Re: Paul George
PG has been trash for the Sixers and a great dodge for the Clippers. GS is probably saying "phew" too.
On the same breath, the reporter who posted the looking to trade him is not known to have any credibility on things like this and suggested to be one of those who just throws things out there. Not sure who would want him anyways even if it was true.

I could see the Bulls, Hornets, Wizards, and Magic interested in PG.

Re: Paul George
Always liked PG. he was silky smooth. Getting him and Kawhi was always a dream. Never realized until it happened that it would be on the Clips.
The big mistake the team made was not what they paid to get PG, but how they handled the addition of Kawhi and PG. Ballmer, Doc and Frank rolled over and put them on a pedestal and ticked off the other players. They were too worried about coddling them to ensure that they wouldn't opt out down the road.
Even with the 2020 Bubble collapse and the Kawhi ACL tear vs Utah. If Zu doesn't get injured against Phoenix, there is no doubt in my mind that PG could have led us the rest of the way to the Finals. Zu was playing quite well when he sprained his MCL in Game 4. He tried to contribute when he came back in during the 4th qtr, but that started a 4 minute stretch of no scoring from either team. Zu just couldn't contribute the same offensively. He ended up sitting the rest of the series.
I completely supported not re-signing PG for the money he was asking for though. When a franchise starts paying players for what they did and not what they expect them to do over the years of the new contract, the franchise sends itself downhill. If PG would have come in about 20 mil/yr lower, then he might still be here. However, he had no reason to turn down that much money if someone was willing to give it to him. Not sure why teams don't do more of a declining salary scale for these older players.
He probably has so much Philly fan hate that he misses us.

True. We don't need him! And also, nice to see Karma biting PG13 for bashing/disrespecting the Clippers on his podcast!

Thank god for the new CBA. If the aprons didn't exist, we'd be the ones on the hook for this nightmare contract, not Philly.

When the team let him walk, I thought it was a mistake... boy was I wrong.. and how happy to have been wrong on that one...

Another one for the "I can't believe it's not Centel" files:
Why does this career loser act like he knows what a winning culture looks like? His own current team doesn't even want him but he's publicly turning his nose up at other teams. Zero self-awareness as usual.

Paul George, at this point in his career, needs to learn to shut up. Not this point in his life, 'cause he's always welcome to talk. His career. The one where he plays basketball. He's not a full time podcaster (yet). He needs to shut up and focus on playing basketball.
I didn't have too much of a problem with PG when he was here. I hated that he missed games, but when he played, he was good. (Although the tour dates comment ... chef's kiss .) But he was trying. Seems like he isn't trying so hard now--and if I were on the hook for $160 million for the next the years like Philly is, I'd be pissed.
Fortunately not our problem.

Nah. Not gonna let yall dog Paul George like this.
He is who he is. He didn't ask for Doc Rivers and Co. to whore themselves out to Kawhi for a whole season. He didn't ask them to get a $50k tampering fine. He didn't tell them to give Kawhi all the leverage, such that Kawhi could force the Clippers to trade for him. He did no such thing.
And....
When our fearless leader tore his ACL, Paulie did step up and help us get to our first WCF.
Blame those responsible. Uncle Dennis. Kawhi. Glenn, Steve....but dont be mad at Paul George for being who he always has been.

Was PG 100% to blame for 213's failure? Of course not, it was an organizational failure from top to bottom. I don't think anyone is seriously arguing otherwise.
You are giving him way too much of a pass, though. Even setting aside the trade that brought him here, he was paid a ton of money and touted as a superstar. He was a no-show in every important game, a turnover machine, always had an excuse or complaint for everything. He made the front office use roster spot after roster spot on his friends while never holding up his end of the bargain in return. He sat out an elimination game with vague "soreness" after making a big show of how he "never quits on his team." He trashed the organization and fanbase on his podcast after he left while still not taking any personal accountability for what went wrong.
At the end of the day, PG has left three teams in his career, not a single one of those fanbases misses him, and his current team is already wishing they could dump his contract. He is the common denominator.

It was never really the on-court stuff, even if he could be pretty inconsistent- some players are just like that. And all players start to break down over 30. Plus he had a great run in 2020/2021 that gave me hope for the rest of his Clipper tenure. He was even saying the right things at the time...
But outside of that run, it was always his mouth (and attitude) that was the big problem. Just no self-awareness at all, that could have gotten him over that hump.

Re: Paul George
Imagine if Kawhi just signed here and played with Shai without the politics and forcing the team to do his bidding.
I think we'd also need to imagine Doc being fired to not ruin this pairing.
Wow.
What could have been.

That was unnecessary. Doc had Shai starting by Game 10 of his rookie year and pulled back his minutes only when Shai started playing like rookie ass in February. That snapped him out of it and he finished strong in March and April. Look it up for yourself. Doc did a masterful job of developing the only decent draft pick he ever had. Even traded up for him.

Sorry, but false narratives annoy me. 213 was Ballmer's doing all the way, including dispatching L-Frank on the private Ballmerjet to stalk dozens of Kawhi's games while still with Toronto.
