Is he though?
He basically cherry picks guys he thinks are soft. He was trying with Edey and I don't think he will shake that tree again.
Like remember when PsychoT got Artest actually mad? That's how I feel Green in the 80's, 90's pre-malace@palace would go.

I'll keep watching personally but if the quality of a game has an inverse relationship to the presence of its best players, then I think that's a major, major red flag. And it's not rare.
Guys like LeBron break that pattern, because he's not a guy who demanded being a top scorer. Or a Magic. Even Phil implemented the triangle to keep all the guys involved. That seems to be a thing of the past.
Not sure where to stick this so I put it here with JB out. There is something to this and I think it's a huge problem.

It's primarily a coaching issue even if an adjusted JB is still a shoot first guard.
There were several games in a row this season when the team clicked offensively while Brunson was racking up double digit assists which he does not typically do as a guy who averages 6-7 assists.
It was in those games he displayed some excellent dimes we had not seen that much from before and it gave me hope this was his evolutionary step as a playmaker. But it was followed by a hot streak and big scoring games and because Thibs just defaults to a guy like Brunson to initiate the action we switched back to playing primarily off Brunson instead of each other.
Point is Brunson can adapt, but not without leadership, because Brunson is not a legendary decision maker. He's just an amazing one on one player and as clutch a SOB as you could ever hope for.
You do not win championships just running ISO plays, but you do need guys who can make their own points for you when needed. Brunson is a great offensive player. He needs a better coach to guide him to become a more well-rounded point guard.

Brunson could easily play more off the ball. He is a truly great shooter from everywhere on the court and he can catch and shoot well. It's really a coaching issue. Brunson is a great one-on-one player and Thibs does not know any offense outside one-on-one so he goes with that. Better coaching would resolve that easily.
