They're suggesting that Orlando wouldn't trade Franz for Ant?

This feels a lot like the 'break up the Tatum/Brown combo' discussions from years prior. IMO, ORL should not consider breaking them up.

For the sake of discussion, I'd have to consider a Paolo for Jalen Williams swap. I would probably land on 'no deal' but I'd think about it.

and yet if Ant were offered for Frantz, orlando finds a way to make it work as fast as they can
They wouldn't trade Franz for Edwards Franz will be in Orlando for his career.

in a fantasy world if you could trade Franz for Ant and then follow it up with a Cam Johnson trade Orlando would be pretty scary. Pipe down because it's unrealistic but one can dream
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Something around Nembhard for Franz? Nembhard would be the point guard that Orlando is looking for; Franz would be the size on the wing that the Pacers need.

Nembhard is a great role player, but that feels like a pipe dream from the outside looking in.

And beyond the value being way off, a Nembhard/Suggs backcourt, while awesome defensively, does not seem tenable on the offensive end.

I can't see a scenario where a package based around Nembhard would get the Magic to put Franz on the table in trade talks. I find it unlikely in almost any scenario but I feel confident there would need to be a better asset than him as the centerpiece of a deal in the unlikely event they considered moving him.

I just think that in the unlikely scenario where the Magic were willing to consider moving Franz they wouldn't be interested in a package where Nembhard is the best asset and I don't think adding picks or prospects would change that. I really think they'd only move Paolo or Franz if they felt like they were getting a better fitting number two to pair with the one they kept otherwise I think they'd choose to keep both and find ways to make the duo work.

I also agree with youngcrev that I don't love the fit of a Nembhard/Suggs backcourt so even if I thought the Magic would be interested in a package of a great role player supplemented with picks and prospects I don't think the Pacers offer would be a good fit.

He would but you have the GM that trades young stars for injured vets... sorry that I had to go there... I still feel bad for Mavs fans.

On a completely different note, the Paolo shade is crazy in this thread. He is finally rounding into shape after coming back from the injury and putting up all-nba numbers on great efficiency since the all-star break.

If Dallas does do a hard one year rebuild (trade AD first) like some/most want..

Youd be looking at a.. “Isaac, Cole, KCP” type package for injured Kyrie. Not any of the trio obviously.

No idea what else goes into that if Dallas is owed value or in a third team is needed since I’m wrong and Orlando’s package is too much value.

But that would be the salary base imo. Kyrie holds no real value injured and Orlando would be a great spot for him to get healthy and lead a fun playoff run. Then try to get paid by Miami in the offseason if Orlando won’t pay to keep him

Would much rather give Kyrie 4yr160 this offseason. Or even 5yr200. No matter what the team does with the rest of the roster.

Makes a ton of sense for CLE...6'10 do-everything guys are a lot harder to find than 6'0, 150lb one-way (awesome) players.

I like Garland and he'd be insane in ORL (with Franz, Paolo, and ideally next to Suggs), but nowhere approaching Franz' value, imo.

I agree with much of what you said, but I think you went a bit overboard when you said Garland doesn’t approach Franz's value. I don't think that Franz is what you think he is. My guess is that in two years, one of us will realize the other was right.

maybe a lot sooner... but cheers!

Just to be clear on my own thoughts...I think they're both capable of being multi-time All-Stars...Garland's biggest weakness, in that respect, is being surrounded by other likely All-Stars (cutting into his votes). I'm higher on Garland than many-even if I'm highlighting his weaknesses to make my point. He's a potentially spectacular offensive player and I was excited when there were rumblings about his camp wanting him out of CLE with Mitchell there...Atkinson has done an amazing job of making it all work in CLE. I hate you guys.

Except Franz doesn't do everything. He doesn't shoot well from outside (or average point-forward assists). He'd need to operate within the same space as Mobley. At a minimum, the Cavs would have to move Allen as well.

The Cavs are on pace to win 70 games this season. We'll see what happens in the postseason, but I just don't see anyway they break up this team.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Franz for Hali feels a lot closer than Franz for Nembhard+. Added bonus for Indiana if they think so highly of Nembhard, they end up with a core of Nembhard, Franz, and Siakim, plus Turner if he can be resigned.
Well at least we're not Detroit!
