Celts Repurpose Nets, Make a Hammock! Victory Cigar vs BKN 3/15

Post#1 » by bisme37 » Sun Mar 16, 2025 12:25 am

Omg you guys that got hella sketchy at the end but we held on and won the big game!

Kristaps Porzingis! Payton Pritchard! Jrue and Luke! JT and Sam and team!

It was a game we won! KP was back and looked great, yay! JB left with back spasms, boo! A bunch of Nets dudes I wouldn't know if they were sitting on my couch were shooting the lights out all night, but the Celts did their thing and survived on the road. (Like, it's kinda weird that the game was such a nail-biter because most all our guys played well imo.) Anyway... I'll take it!

Nets again Tuesday, Go C's!

I voted KP for coming back and looking good. Also for Holiday because 11+ 12ast should not be underappreciated.

Happy for PP and the History he made tonight, however.

Just the 10th instance of an opponent making 20+ threes vs. the Mazzulla Celtics. Opponents are now 3-7 in those games.

Just the 4th instance of Jrue recording a pts-asts double double with the Celtics. All wins. Three have come against the Nets.

I like Joe playing double bigs. I like every permutation of the +7 footers.
Luke+ KP I like
KP + Queta I like
Luke + Queta I even like

It’s a fun wrinkle to bring so much size to the court to overwhelm the opponent. I didn’t look at the lineup data today against Brooklyn but generally in small doses all,of those lineups work this yr

Edit:
KP + Luke was net rating +91 in 8 mins !!
KP + Queta was net +58 in 7 mins !
Luke + Queta was net +9 in 6 mins

The Mazzulla era Celtics have a 90.57% win percentage when they make 20+ threes. Celtics opponents have a 30% win percentage when they make 20+ threes against us.

Closer than it should have been, but still a win on the 2nd night of a b2b.

Need to go 11-3 for 60 wins.

Will the Celtics pursue it?

Brown is gonna screw this team with his crappy play. What’s going on with this guy? Is his knee mangled?

Would be nice but they shouldn't "purse it". Health is priority. 60 is largely irrelevant.

KP only looks for his own shot man. There were multiple occasions where he had JT open on the perimeter right next to him (some of the few instances where JT had any daylight all game) and dude didn't even look at anything but the basket lol.

Crazy thing about PP's record is there are still 14 games left!

It's Fugly winning by 2 against the 2025 Nets, even though they are better than their record and put up a lot of good fights. Hopefully Jaylen Brown's back spasm is not too serious... Pritch carried the team today, but excellent play from Porzingis (despite a slow start), Luke Kornet, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown coupled with contributions by Holiday (12 Assists), Hauser and Queta kept the Celtics on top. Looking at the talent gap, this should not have been close. Why was it close? Well,

Nets shot 43.5% from 3 to Celtics 34.7% while the Nets attempted 8 MORE 3's than the Celtics
Nets got 7 More Rebounds
Nets took 6 More shots

Oh well.

An Alternative Perspective:

Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5 x Assists) + Steals + (0.5 x Blocks) - Missed Field Goals - (0.5 x Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5 x Fouls)

+24.5 Payton Pritchard 33 minutes

+18.5 Kristaps Porzingis 32 minutes
+17.5 Jayson Tatum 36 minutes
+16.5 Luke Kornet 25 minutes
+14 Jrue Holiday 38 minutes
+12 Jaylen Brown 24 minutes

+10 Sam Hauser 28 minutes
+5.5 Neemias Queta 13 minutes

+1 Baylor Scheierman 11 minutes

Team Total = 119.5

VC to Pritchard and KP.

Prichard with his NBA record setting game for most 3's made in a single season, off the bench, in NBA history.
22 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 7-11 from the field.

KP with 24 points. most of them in the paint. He needs to rebound better.

Jrue also with a good game. 11 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals.

Kornet was good.

Tatum was ok. Solid all around game, but settled too much and had a team worse -15.

We almost blew about big lead. Up 18 and he barely hung on for the win. It's happened recently vs the Lakers, Jazz and Cavs.

Happy for Maxwell Lewis. Shout out to him for his career high 15 points in only 16 minutes. 6 for 7 from the field. His coach had to take him out because they are trying hard for Cooper Flagg.

Met Max 2 years ago after the game when Gonzaga came to play Pepperdine in CA. He seemed like a nice dude. That was a cool night. Met Drew Timme also after the game. Saw Anton Watson, Julian Strawther (plays for the Nuggets now), and Michael Porter Jr, who was there watching his brother play.
