Shame we couldn't pull it out, but this went almost exactly how I expected it too without Jalen.

-Karl really answered the call.
-Deuce, OG, & Mikal came through.
-Achiuwa, Robinson, & Shamet gave us good minutes off the bench.
-Hart was awful
-Payne was even worse...which really highlighted the absence of Brunson.

If Shamet and Robinson stay healthy, Payne's spot in the rotation could be in danger when Brunson comes back as we could hypothetically keep the starters at 34mpg without Cam, once Mitch gets his conditioning up:

Towns 24-28 | Robinson 20-24
Anunoby 30-32 | Towns 6-10 | Achiuwa 10-14
Hart 34 | Bridges 10-12 | Anunoby 2-4
Bridges 22-24 | McBride 10 | Shamet 14-16
Brunson 34 | McBride 14

I know the starters will play >36mpg in the playoffs, just saying we could keep them at 34mpg without even playing Payne once everyone else is healthy. So he better get out of this funk ASAP.

Shamet should have played towards the end of the stretch instead of Josh. Josh shoots off confidence. He missed his first shot and lost all confidence after that.

I think we can beat the Pistons but will probably get bounced by the Pacers or Bucks.

We are getting mauled by Detroit if we play them

Playing drop with Kat on Steph
Not taking out Hart who gave you ZERO POINTS and playing Mitch with Kat instead
Not playing Kolek over Payne who also gave you ZERO POINTS

Thibs lost the team, and I can tell by the way he’s yelling at Hart
Thibs gotta go

This bugged me the most.

Deuce is should start once KB returns. He's awesome...that block on curry was :o ..... Bring hart off the bench.

They're 14-1 since Jimmy arrived. And we're without Brunson and on their floor. Winning this game was going to be extremely difficult

Agreed. I said the same in the GB's game thread. Shamet is really coming on over the past 10-15 games. I'd be cool with him just taking all of Payne's minutes when Brunson comes back, let Deuce run the 1 when Jalen rests.

We had no business putting Cam Payne on this team. He completely wiped out minutes that should've went to Kolek. This is incredible.

So it's begun

When even your fave player Josh questions you, tick tock Thibs

True

I mean they're good and like Dray said they may actually go to Finals, but they're also looking old/ past their prime a few possessions a game and we couldn't capitalize...

When Josh, OG, Mikal play, it seems they're hesitant/ no clear feel on who should take the shot there's no fluid flow/ ball movement/ player movement...

A couple last second heaves at the end of the 1st and 2nd qtr.

I'm not upset about this loss. Thought we competed defensively outside of that stretch where Steph hit back to back 3's on KAT dropping.

Hart was a complete disaster.

I do wonder if 2nd round exits are enough to keep thibs job safe. Is leon and Dolan really going to fire thibs when we are fairly competitive and Dolan is making a lot of money off the team.

probably not because this is the 1st year with this team. So that will always be a built in excuse for him.

A 1st round exit would do it for sure, but 2nd round especially if they don't get completely blown out he doesn't get fired.

The players like him but I gottta believe with how analytical our FO is...that they have to see Thibs is holding the roster back.

I'm sure the other teams don't plan for anyone but our top 8 cuz they know Thibs will never play them. We are so damn predictable to game plan against.

Yeah, this likely would've been a win with Brunson...and a comfortable one at that...even if Jalen just played the minutes Payne got.

This was about as encouraging as a loss can be. We took it to a surging team despite missing our best player & closer; only losing the rope in the final minute. Short of getting the win, that game went about as well as it could've...and if Hart or Payne had been able to hit anything tonight, we could've won even without Jalen.

The bench not scoring has been the difference all season.

Yeah that's my fear. I think he is back next year, too. And this team is just too talented to lose in the first round.

Plus he is friends with leon. This team and coach are a terrible pairing. 94 points is comical in modern nba. And with this roster.
