Re: PG: Knicks vs. Warriors: Pathetic Part II
Left a lot of points on the table. A few missed free throws, missed dunks, missed bunnies. That was tough to watch.
There was a lot of hacking and whacking by those Warriors.
Hart is completely shook. He was so good earlier this year. Like a mini LeBron. Now he can't do anything.
Thibs: when Plan A fails, try Plan A.
No Brunson in the clutch is tough.

This, the ridiculous scrub butler 3 at the end of the quarter was enough....warriors won't do much in the playoffs

And ya I know we have a better defensive rating since he came back but that's also probably because Deuce has been in the starting lineup instead of JB.
Don't need him to be back to his normal self. If he can give us just 20-22mpg that could really alleviate the burden on the starters & give us a different dynamic. 24mpg+ off the bench from Deuce, 25-30 from Mitch / Precious, & 10-15 from Shamet / Payne, and all of a sudden we shouldn't gas nearly as often.
...even if playing Mitch & Towns together doesn't level us up.

Barring injuries to Brunson or Towns, yes.

A couple last second heaves at the end of the 1st and 2nd qtr.
I'm not upset about this loss. Thought we competed defensively outside of that stretch where Steph hit back to back 3's on KAT dropping.
Hart was a complete disaster.
I do wonder if 2nd round exits are enough to keep thibs job safe. Is leon and Dolan really going to fire thibs when we are fairly competitive and Dolan is making a lot of money off the team.
probably not because this is the 1st year with this team. So that will always be a built in excuse for him.
A 1st round exit would do it for sure, but 2nd round especially if they don't get completely blown out he doesn't get fired.
The players like him but I gottta believe with how analytical our FO is...that they have to see Thibs is holding the roster back.
I think we're going to underwhelm in the POs and he's gone. I don't see how it all suddenly clicks. There's not that feel that we're building as the season progresses. More falling apart. Leon's happy to give him his money. Thibs always has an expiration date and it just feels like the clock is running out.
I'm fine with him going but I hope we're more creative than going for the biggest college name we can get. I think Rick Brunson is a boogeyman.

Sadly thibs is here to stay. The front office has no intention of getting rid of him. Seeing Dolan himself on the podcast giddy with excitement talking to thibs on the phone crushed my soul.
This is our core and this is the coach we will be relying on for the next few years. Have to accept that. Our window is closed.

They're 14-1 since Jimmy arrived. And we're without Brunson and on their floor. Winning this game was going to be extremely difficult
Yeah, this likely would've been a win with Brunson...and a comfortable one at that...even if Jalen just played the minutes Payne got.
This was about as encouraging as a loss can be. We took it to a surging team despite missing our best player & closer; only losing the rope in the final minute. Short of getting the win, that game went about as well as it could've...and if Hart or Payne had been able to hit anything tonight, we could've won even without Jalen.
I agree it was an encouraging loss in many ways. But if Jalen played, Deuce doesn't start, and you don't have his D on Curry the whole game. Mikal would have guarded him, JB on a bigger guy. We might have given up more on defense overall than JB added on offense. And other guys, esp. KAT wouldn't score as much with JB playing.

Maybe, but Brunson has rarely cost us more points than he's created for the team before, despite being a poor defender. Which is why I said that it likely would've been a win with Jalen.

Probably not. But Boston has gone cold for a series before...and if they do, having just 20ish minutes of mitch stopping them at the rim, could be enough if we're hitting our shots. Either way, it's not this year or bust for us.
We should be able to maneuver our way into opening the taxpayer MLE this summer for someone like Jake LaRavia or JeSean Tate. Add a fully healthy Mitch, Precious, & Shamet from the start of the year. Plus another year of development from McBride, Hukporti, & Kolek. And all of a sudden we're talking about a much deeper team that can throw a lot more different looks that the elite teams.

Re: PG: Knicks vs. Warriors: Pathetic Part II
I’ve been saying from day one…
1. Thibs ain’t it
2. Hart is a bench player and sub 24 mins guy
3. Mikal and KAT are misused
4. JB and KAT can’t work defensively; trade KAT
Always gotta learn the obvious the hard way. Let’s enjoy the playoffs and hopefully a new coach this off season and true contention next season.

Interesting how Rick finally moved between them and PJ and Shamet tried to calm it a little. Mo Cheeks passively watching from behind, he's seen it all I guess. It wasn't as dramatic as the Butler/Spo/Haslem blowup a couple years ago where Uonis said he'd kick Jimmy's a** and Spo slammed a clipboard.
