Just scanned the front page and see that my 2nd round prospect pick, Jackson Ferris, is not listed in my prospect list but my 3rd and 4th rounders are.

Also, since I'm up after Benny*, can I assume anyone listed in the FA player pool is available provided they're not prospect eligible?

Meaning that if I see a player who appears available, not a prospect, but is listed on the front page (rosters from when this thread was launched), that front page doesn't necessarily reflect keepers/drops that happened once the draft started.

I'm tired, please excuse my word salad.

Yes, any player available as a FA on yahoo can be picked, as long as they don’t appear on the first page of this thread.

The only caveat is that, if you pick up a player who has the NA tag, and is still prospect eligible (less than 130 AB or 50 IP), then you cannot place them in your NA slot.

Speaking of which, we all know Gerrit Cole is getting TJ and will be on the IL the whole year. The Yankees (or Yahoo) have not made that designation yet. Should we let a team be able to move a player to IL even though they are yet to be IL eligible in such cases?

Only if a player is announced as having TJ in the offseason was my thought. Others would need the IL tag.

But I get your point about this possibly becoming a slippery slope.

My two senses are that if a player doesn't have a IL designation and we cannot include/think of them as IL even though they might be out for the season or out for awhile. It gets messy imo.

So far we have

Yes: 1
No: 2

Hopefully atleast 2 more pitch in. Benny will be a yes I’m sure, so currently it is more like 2:1

Can not do it if the player does not have IL tag applied to him through Yahoo

So we will go with a No on this one. Benny, please post your drop & pick. If you want you can skip for now and see if Cole gets an IL tag tomorrow and then make your pick. But we cannot hold up the draft for that, so let me know what you want to do.

That Shane Bieber question from OldNo7 shows how tricky this can become, since he also had TJ surgery but it was sometime last season. So what happens if this is someone who underwent the surgery a couple of years back and is expected within the first couple of weeks of the season. It will be tough to decide, so sticking with the simpler IL-on-Yahoo rule which we've had for a few seasons now seems like the right thing to do.

Let me know how you want to proceed.

If we have evidence that those players are or will be in the IL...why shouldn't we be able to move them to the IL.

The pro leagues always screw up the fantasy sports. The Dodgers playing tomorrow and everyone else a week later is why I have Ohtani on IL but not Strider.
