I feel like we are downgrading everywhere

Need a BIG move. Dak cleared all that space for what? To watch Sam Williams take D-Law's place?

Swapping Dowdle for Williams is a definite downgrade. Dowdle was the far more productive player this past season.

I kind of like the Kaiir Elam pick up for them though. That is the one move that has some upside imo.

Soloman Thomas is mainly a rotational player/depth signing. Same deal with Sanborn.

So this is where Jerry, Stephen, the front office deserve horrible critique.

Not when Jerry gets on the radio and declares the Cowboys are a great team. But NOW, in free agency. When everyone else is rushing to make big moves and we are in no hurry to do a damn thing.

Like why even move Dak's contract to the future? The only point to doing that would be to make room for the present moment. Otherwise we'd be better off paying all contracts now.

The problem is that Dowdle isn’t a $7M a year RB. He’s an average backup at best. I still fully expect the Cowboys to draft 1 maybe 2 RB’s. Or draft 1 and sign a couple as UDFA’s.

Dowdle got a base salary of $3M. The $6.5M number are tied to incentives only. They basically gave Williams the same contract but without more incentives.

The initial numbers that are reported are basically smoke & mirrors. The numbers are typically always inflated by the agent.

The only real number that truly matters is the amount of guaranteed money.

Fyi the Demarcus Lawrence contract was first reported as being 3 years & $42m. But $10m of that is tied to incentives that he might never reach. The contract (Base value) is actually 3 years & $32m. $18m which is guaranteed.

So, essentially, it's a 2-year contract worth $18m. Those are the actual numbers.

That's why you should be a skeptic when you hear these huge contract numbers that are thrown around by the media.

I’m cool with that. Again Dowdle is a backup at best. Same with Williams, if he even makes the team. Like I said they will have a couple more RB’s in before all is said done.

Cowboys sign Miles Sanders. Twitter has been up and down so haven’t been able to see the numbers yet. Even with two RB’s signed they will still draft at least 1 more.

Cowboys will likely carry 3 QB’s on the roster this year. They plan to draft a QB at some point but they aren’t going to go into the season with a rookie QB as the backup. I expect they will wait until just before camp starts before they sign a backup vet QB.

I have this strange feeling that the Cowboys are going to draft Quinn Ewers.

Wouldn’t be crazy about taking him at 76 but wouldn’t just hate it either. Do you think he’ll be there at 148?

It kind of feels like football is entering a new era where the QB talent pool is such that taking a QB late is now very effective. Where n the past, like the 80s and 90s, only QBs taken in round 1 played.

We just saw Hurts win a ring, and Dak himself is a late pick. Lamar Jackson basically a 2nd round pick. Meanwhile Trey lance is straight garbage.

IDK, kind of feels like college QBs are just more "NFL ready" across the board now.

Hard to say. Some have him ranked as high as a late 1st and some have him as a 5th rounder. Realistically he’s probably somewhere in between. If I had to guess I would say he gets drafted by a decent team late in round 2 or 3.

I just have this odd feeling that the Cowboys are going to draft him a little higher than we all are expecting them to draft a QB (I’m thinking 2nd or 3rd round).

Ewers is a day three guy for me. He's a tough sell.

Our needs elsewhere are too great to use a 1st or a 2nd on a QB who will just watch Dak.

We need our 1st and 2nd round picks to be day 1 starters.

Yea and I can see why. He has all of the physical tools but he didn’t exactly light it up at Texas. Also I live in Dallas have heard some no so flattering things about Ewers since his days at Southlake. He has a lot of the Aaron Rodgers arrogance in him. He thinks his **** doesn’t stink.

I agree 100% but I really think they are going to take a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round.
