Zion has continued to look impressive since his return. Didn't know he had triple double potential. His passing is underrated.

I continue to say if we can't get Flagg or Harper we need to go all in on Zion this off-season.

the better he looks the less likely he is to be traded.

pelicans should hold onto him unless he does something stupid

yeah we have 100% missed the window on any kind of Zion trade (if there ever was one to begin with)

We need to make a commitment to winning this summer.

I think we have until the trade deadline to show that we can win with LaMelo. Looking at the roster right now the only guys I want to see back are.

LaMelo
Miles
Brandon
Grant Williams
Seth Curry
Okogie
Mark Williams can stay or go

I don't want to see Nick Smith Jr, Damian Baugh, Wendell Moore, DaQuan Jefferies, Taj Gibson, Tidjane Salaun out there unless they become better players first. Really, we would be better off if these guys were not taking up roster spots.

Josh Green, and Nurkic need to be packaged in trades for guys that can help us win now if possible.

Seth Curry might be retiring. Grant Williams might not even be available until like December and even then, likely won't be himself until the following season (if at all). Okogie is interesting, but such a tiny sample size and his contract is not guaranteed. I'd love to keep him if we could get rid of Josh somehow.

The contract bloat is definitely Josh and Nurk though. I guess Salaun too lol.

So question for not just you but all of you all who for instance want Zion etc what assets do you trade in order to build a winner, especially if Melo Miller Miles and maybe Mark are off limits? Do you trade June's first rd pick if you don't get a Top 2 lottery result? What exactly would that bring in return? I mean its one thing to say its time to trade into a winning roster but what desirable assets do the Hornets have to offer in trade?

I think we have the players to be a winning team, we just need to be healthy for once.

Melo - Mann
Okogie - Green
Miller - Grant
Miles - Diabate
Mark - Nurk

That's a decent 10 man rotation. Add the draft pick to bump Okogie to the bench, find an actual backup PG, and a shooting PF/C. There is no reason we can't be the Pistons of next season if we're healthy.

I would keep the draft pick. The 2025 2nd from the Pelicans which is almost a late first, the 2026 1st from the Suns, the 2027 Heat 1st and the 2027 Dallas 1st could all be moved in the right deal. I would trade Mark if the return was right.

The one star we know will be moved in the summer is Durrant. The Suns are reported to want 2 firsts and to get under the 2nd apron. I think Durrant is going to play hardball and try to force his way to only one team (Lakers, why you think they did takebacks on that Mark deal). We should get in the mix and offer Josh Green, suns pick returned in 2026, and one of the 2027 picks for a one year rental of Durrant.

Maybe you catch lightning in a bottle and he wants to resign. If things go bad you can just move him again at the deadline for some pick compensation returned. Some assests would have to be moved in a seperate deal to dump Nurk so we could take on all that money.

LaMelo
Brandon Miller
Durrant
Miles Bridges/Grant Williams
Mark/DIabiate

Plus adding a draft pick. I don't think it has to be Durrant, but I do think we should try to add a player if we can. Josh Giddey (SnT) or Josh Green could be upside plays. I would probably do that same Durrant package for Zion.

No chance plays in Charlotte. Nice thought, but we both know he wouldn't come here.

Zion is still the most realistic option if we want to trade for a star simply because he has ties to Carolina already. He would at least embrace playing here.

If we wanna be the Pistons of next season we need a coach (or leader in general) that will put their foot down early in the season on the BS officiating like JB did last night https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1jcb408/jb_bickerstaff_is_heated_about_officiating/

I posted this on the trade board.

Would you guys consider taking on the Paul George contract if it came with the #2 pick Dylan Harper?

Absolutely, not even a question but I can't see the Sixers doing that just to move off a contract they just signed.

Miles is usually better, definitely cheaper and consistently plays harder then Zion.

I'm taking Zion 100/100 times over Miles. I'd give up Miles + draft compensation to get him. There are very few inside presences like him let alone available. There are plenty of guys like Miles who can ISO at the top of the key and go on hot streaks.

The best case Possible Zion outcome is not the reality. Miles is far more consistent, healthy and motivated.

Yeah we would probably have to come off the Dal or Miami pick, but I think I would do it just to get Harper. We still would have our own lottery pick hopefully Flagg.

PG as a vet mentor wouldn't be bad. Yeah his contract sucks but he's still a starting caliber wing in this league.

the bigger question is what pick we'd need to get in the lottery to swap up.

Personally if we get 4 or 5, and the Sixers get #2, I would gladly eat the PG contract to trade up for Harper. Gets iffy with any other outcome. Doubt they'd do it for a lower pick or a future pick, there's no way they just trade Harper to make PG go away, that is hilarious levels of wishful thinking.

And I wouldn't even begin to worry about who to send for salary matching. Green, Nurkic, and any other expiring are gone as soon as they say yes.

Anything outside the top 3 I would gladly swap picks.

Missing out on Flagg would suck, but Harper is definitely worth trading up for.

FWIW... I think most of us probably figured this might be the case. I think Lee and Peterson would probably prefer a more mobile athletic center one that can guard out to the perimeter. Or one that can shoot threes. Obviously those don't grow on trees but...

Read on Twitter

"Rival executives expect the Mark Williams trade market to be re-explored this summer. The Hornets have tried to shut down similar speculation about LaMelo Ball, but the reality remains that Williams, Ball and Brandon Miller have managed to appear in the same game just 18 times over the past two seasons."
