Re: 2025 OFFSEASON
It's a good RB draft, and despite his average last year, Mason doesn't have great vision and Purdy didn't really ever trust him as a receiver. Kind of had a feeling they would trade him. But I'd hoped we might get a little more for him.

Re: 2025 OFFSEASON
Why didn't we tender him with a lower pick? No one was going to sign him and give up a 2nd

Re: 2025 OFFSEASON
They don't have the greatest record with RBs drafted in the first 5 rounds.
Hope they're not planning to draft one again before the 6th round. Maybe they get lucky with a UDFA again.

They knew they were going to trade him and wanted control over the compensation they were getting so hitting him with a 2nd round tender made sure another team wasn't going to sign him.

Re: 2025 OFFSEASON
It seems apparent now that they really are serious about retooling this defense and I'm all for it.
Defense has been slipping for years and did need a refresh of it's personnel and some fresh ideas injected into the scheme.
With Saleh onboard now's the perfect time to do it while he's here because at least he has a proven track record of being able to do it. So I'd far rather him overseeing a rebuild of this defense than say a guy like Sorensen for example.
If we hit in this upcoming draft I think we can have a rough 1st half of the season defensively but get better as the season goes on and look like a pretty good unit by the end of the season.

Re: 2025 OFFSEASON
Daniel Jeremiah said with the departures, Niners are likely going to be last in the NFC West again.
He thinks it's a silent retool.

Re: 2025 OFFSEASON
Yep, draft a bunch of rookies, start and play them through growing pains. Let BA, CMC, other vets take their time getting healthy, eat all the dead money, extend Purdy and have a large cap hit this season, get a high top 10 pick and get ready to contend in 26/27wco81 wrote:Daniel Jeremiah said with the departures, Niners are likely going to be last in the NFC West again.

It's a silent retool on defense for sure but less of a retool on offense.
We'll have to wait and see how the draft pans out before we get an idea of how they'll look in 2025. We have 11 picks so with a good draft class we can see them get good again in a hurry.

There is nothing silent about it, and DJ is not unearthing something crazy here, pretty obvious this is a reset year with all the dead cap $ and cutting a lot of the fat/old/injured
don't know about us being last though, but if we are, it means the Brock Purdy experiment failed this year.

What you have laid out is really best case scenario. Requires the team to really nail the draft and for these rookies to come on quickly and for everything to gell right away. And while I think Saleh is a good coordinator, to have a good defense with the roster he is going to be dealing with is asking alot.

I didn't think they would let him go after tendering him but I guess they are really going with Guerrendo. Hopefully CMC is ready to play this year and they can draft a good RB for depth.

Yeah, last would be awfully disappointing. Especially considering a 4th place schedule. The offense should still be good - though if Brendel remains the starter, I can't see us returning to 2023 form given what he showed last year. The defense may struggle, but at least it's a really good draft to fill some holes on that side of the ball. Just have to hope Kyle doesn't burn draft capital on stupid superfluous players like RBs in the 3rd, backup TEs and Ks in the 4th, etc.

I guess the plan at this point is to let some of the centers on the team (PS) compete for the center position

An analysis of Aaron Banks at a Green Bay site. Haven't seen this done of him. They are not big fans of AB or the signing. Video shows crucial pass blocking mistakes made by him

That's because he sucks. Supposed to be a nice guy. On the field, he had about three good games in his Niners' career. Zakelj, Bartch, and Burford all outplayed him last year, but he just kept stepping back into the starting lineup. That's part of why I have little faith that we will replace Brendel this year. Foerster doesn't seem to want to move off his guys.

Are we sure this isn't a Kyle decision? Seems like he is very hesitant to make OL changes outside of the trade for TrentCrimsonCrew wrote:Pattersonca65 wrote:An analysis of Aaron Banks at a Green Bay site. Haven't seen this done of him. Use of resources on OL? Maybe. Who is actually starting on the OL? Hard to see him being that hands-on if Foerster wants someone else over Banks.

Foerester allegedly thought Brendel was great last year, according to Matt Barrow.
