I have questions about Hendrickson as a 30+ year old guy, but he could really boost our pass rush. But reports now are that the Bengals are working on a contract extension for him after they let him seek a trade for a week. Maybe other teams weren't blowing him away with their own contract extension offers.

No reports that teams weren't willing to give him the massive extension he wants

All reports were that they were that teams found Cincys asking price ludicrous

If they extend him then unless Hendrickson is taking a pretty massive discount compared to current market value Cincy is about to have a insane amount of cap locked into 4 players

1 year, $4M? Not much of a risk for Philly.

If he can stay healthy, Ojulari might thrive next to Davis and Carter. Hope he does not turn into this season's Zach Baun.

Roseman does not always hit on his free agents (Bryce Huf) or his draft picks (Ragor over Justin Jefferson), but he also takes a lot swings to build his roster.

In the worst case, Eagles might get a compensation pick in 2027 for Ojulari.

14 sacks in 29 games is pretty good but the problem is, that’s over a 3yr span. Dude can’t stay healthy although 4m is a nice number for Philly. Pros and cons if you will.

22 sacks in his 4 year career, gets a 1/$4M deal.
Rashan Gary had 22 1/2 sacks after 4 seasons, Gute gives him 4/$96M.

Gary is a better all around player, better against the run than Ojulari.

But to get a guy like that for four million is insanity. Two of the biggest bargains this year are Ojulari and Becton. Asante Samuel is the last free agent I'd be interested in, but I doubt we go that route

"I ain't doing that darkness retreat," Heyward said, responding to a question from co-host Hayden Walsh if he'd go into the dark with Rodgers to land the quarterback's services. "I don't need any of that crap. Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don't. It's that simple. That's the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that's the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers. If you want to be part of it, so be it. If you don't, no skin off my back."

I can't imagine a team wanting to trade for recovering McCarthy, unless it's a clearance sale, which means the Vike's have lost hope.

This just sounds like other teams sounding out what the Vike's stated QB market is, not that they would ever mislead opponents....

Rodgers options are dwindling. Steelers and Giants are all that is left and now there are rumors NY wants to move up from #3 to #1 in the draft to grab Cam Ward, so Giants could be out here soon as well. Clock is ticking, Rodgers.

Yup. He might have to wait til catastrophe takes out a starter on a potential playoff team, needing a placeholder. Hardly the situation he was hoping for

I don't really get why Rodgers wouldn't want to go to Pittsburgh. They have a decent team that could certainly make the playoffs

Maybe Pittsburg's offer isn't big enough? They can see Rogers market is limited too, so why overbid? With Rudolph back on the roster, they've got their Plan B QB,.... well maybe their Plan C QB. Maybe they're also courting another, cheaper alternative vet.

Aaron thinking he has Pittsburg by the short hairs...

See who blinks first

Some proposed rule changes to be discussed/voted on in a couple of weeks. This excludes the Packers tush push proposal, mentioned in the team thread.

The Detroit Lions have proposed a significant change to NFL playoff seeding that would largely use regular-season records as the guiding principle, rather than division championships, according to a list of potential rule changes the league released Wednesday.

Under the proposal, the division winner with the conference's best record would still receive the No. 1 overall seed. But after that, teams would be stacked by records, regardless of whether they won their divisions or received wild-card berths.

That approach could have a significant effect on the Lions and the highly competitive NFC North, which fielded three playoff teams last season -- the Lions (15-2), Minnesota Vikings (14-3) and Green Bay Packers (11-6). The Lions received the NFC's No. 1 seed, but the Vikings were seeded No. 5, and the Packers were No. 7. Based purely on records, the Vikings would have been the No. 3 seed, and the Packers would have been No. 5.

The Los Angeles Chargers made a similar proposal in 2023, but it did not receive much support. Any NFL team can make a rule change proposal for consideration by owners. The proposals require at least 24 votes to be approved, but owners are generally more likely to approve proposals that are endorsed by the competition committee rather than individual teams.

Owners are scheduled to meet March 30-April 2 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

A proposal that would eliminate the automatic first down that comes with an illegal contact or defensive holding penalty, submitted by the Lions, who led the league last season with 11 flags for defensive holding.

A submission from the Eagles to give both teams a guaranteed possession in overtime during the regular season, aligning with current rules for playoff games.

A resolution from the Pittsburgh Steelers to allows some direct contact between pending free agents and teams that are pursuing them during the three-day negotiating window that precedes the opening of the league year.

A change submitted by multiple teams that would allow preparing K-balls that are used for kicking before game day as teams are allowed to do with the balls that are used on other plays.

The change to playoff seeding should definitely happen. A guaranteed playoff spot is enough of a reward for winning a bad division. You shouldn't get an automatic home game.

The defensive holding and illegal contact penalty proposals I'm less sure about but I don't think there's any way they pass.

I might be in the minority among fans but I kinda appreciate Division winners getting a home game.

It makes divisional matchups (and by proxy rivalries) that much more important during the regular season and see little reason why lessening that would be good for the product even if there's situations sometimes where teams with a better record go on the road in round 1

I think a guaranteed playoff spot for winning the division is plenty of incentive. Also getting a home game is overkill.
