I know it's SEC and they're so strong and blah blah. Kentucky finishing 8-8 is pretty friggin flat for a 3 seed.

Anytime you have a chance to include the 14th best team in their own conference (6-12, 19-15) over some smaller deserving schools, you have to pull the trigger.

West Virginia is starting to make noise about their snub/UNC's inclusion and litigation has been floated. I hope they do it.

Sure UNC getting in was a joke but stuff like this happens all the time. I'm not a fan of litigation about who should have been the last couple of teams in a 68 team tournament

Does it happen all the time? This isn't just an undeserving team getting in, and it's actually pretty markedly different than even like the entire SEC conference getting in, for example.

Not only is UNC the last at-large team in the tournament field.
Not only is UNC 1-8 against Quad 1.
Not only is UNC's athletic director the committee chairman.

The same UNC AD committee chairman is also contractually incentivized for his team to make the tournament. It's public data and confirmable, since UNC is a public institution.

All coincidental? Possibly, sure. But yeah, I'm really not sure this does happen all the time. It's not a good look.

I'm not saying WV doesn't have a legitimate beef. It's shady as hell, as are a lot of business deals, which this really is. If there were federal laws broken, sure litigate.

I actually don't care remotely about WVU, lol. You just can't have guys who are contractually incentivized to have the institutions they work in the tournament presiding over the committee that determines who is in said tournament. I have no ideas what laws may or may not have been broken here, so you may be right that there's nothing available to sue against. But this is not a year for people to brush this aside as 'it happens every year.'
