the issue is he should just play the GPII role. nothing more. whatever GPII does, he should do the same. the moment he does (or tries to do) something more or something different, the issue.
JK was one of the only players playing with force out there. He was a huge part of the late surge and they aren't even close without him.
And JK took a few iso plays because Steph and Draymond looked old and slow tonight....they were terrible.
Tonight was a game where the team looked old and slow. The lack of athleticism may still be their biggest shortcoming and Gui, Post, Buddy, Moody provided nothing tonight.
This guy gets it.
JK was the only Warrior with a positive +/- at +6. And that's a big +/- when everyone else was a net negative. Yet some are saying Kuminga was a problem because he was trying to do too much?!?
JK doesn't hunt iso plays. He hunts good passes looking for great shots like a good Kerr disciple and yet he STILL gets criticized. JK only resorts to isolation late in the clock when all the other actions have broken down and everyone is standing around. His best iso was when Butler cut into the lane and JK dumped it to him for an easy layup. The problem isn't JK. The problem is that nobody moves when he backs his man down to give him passing opportunities.
+/- is a horrible stat and especially for a single game, its why people need to use BBREF and look at calculated ORTG and DRTG to see a player's real impact on both sides of the ball.
Kuminga wasn't the issue, the sloppy passing was which was out there before Kuminga was, the last couple of games this team has gotten very sloppy on the offensive end, it's like night and day with how clean the offense looked before and I don't know why, need to watch the game again. Turnovers were the biggest issue by far although 3pt shooting wasn't far behind. I still don't understand Curry's decision when on the break trying to throw a sloppy alley-oop to Kuminga, that's all on Curry although Kuminga.
11 of the 20 TOs were just bad to horrible passes.
See all the TOs
here. Just with the 11 worst TOs, that's anywhere from 8-14 points just thrown away.
Calculated ORTG and DRTG for last night
Santos 16, 115 - just horrible in 14 minutes with 3 TOs and no points.
Hield 69, 127 - terrible on both sides of the ball.
Curry 80, 112 - terrible overall game, mostly because of the 7 TOs
Kuminga 88, 118 - 4 of 11 with 13 points, 4 ast but 3 TOs
Draymond 100, 102 - 4 TOs
Moody 111, 117
Payton II 167, 109 18 points on 8 of 10 shooting, 0 TO
Looney 118, 108 - maybe the bigs were helping some?
Butler 120, 112 - Some of Butler's defensive effort leaked over to his offense in the 2nd and 3rd (mostly with Curry off the court), glimpses of him invoking his will on offense but then dropped back down a gear for whatever reason.
Post 130, 108, his +/- was -9 but in 8 minutes he put up 4 points on 2 of 3 shooting, had a rebound and an assist. Maybe he should have played more since small ball wasn't working with Gordon at C.
