Timberwolves & Grizzlies (forest beasts)

Heat & Suns (fire & heat)

Magic & Wizards (fantasy & magic)

Spurs & Mavericks (cowboys & the Wild West)

Pacers & Pistons (racing & automotive)

Rockets & Clippers (fast-moving vehicles)

76ers & Nuggets (historical events)

Warriors & Cavaliers (fighters & nobility)

I like the concept, but I prefer fewer pairs to make it more challenging. I'd stick to the first six which I think have the strongest thematic connections.

I think our next draft should be Common Theme 2.0 with the new suggestions

Cavs Kings (middle ages)

Lakers Clippers (water)

Bulls Bucks (hoofed animals)

Jazz Thunder (sounds)

Knicks Celtics (peoples)

But I think we should open the signups after finishing with Not Loyal No Journeyman Draft

Maybe add Warriors/Kings (Kingdoms had both) to make it 6 pairs.

These pairs have a lot more juice than the previous game. Merger - Current should be good.

We already have the Cavaliers/Kings, which is the same thematic connection only more specifically Middle Ages. I don’t personally think there is another pair you can add without really stretching the premise or repeating teams.

I’d argue there are deeper teams in this one so we don’t need 12 teams.

The Celtics and Lakers alone have massive player pools. The Clippers and Thunder are pretty deep too.

Adding the Warriors feels like it’d be too much.

Michael Jordan - Isaiah Thomas
Devin Booker - Luka Doncic
Kobe Bryant - Shaq
Joel Embiid - Marcus Smart
Rajon Rondo - Chris Paul

Kevin Durant - Russell Westbrook
Gilbert Arenas - Javaris Crittenton
Vince Carter - Toronto Raptors
Ron Artest - Ben Wallace

Metta World Peace vs Ben Wallace, a pretty big beef right there

Maybe also Draymond vs Rudy Gobert

Fun and creative idea but my only issue is investigating the pool of teammates for so many guys

A similar idea would be teammates of the most "badass"/crazy guys ever, like Artest Draymond Laimbeer etc.

I suggested something similar in the past, but I think this version is more balanced.

Non-Dynastic Vintage Champions

Includes every team that won a championship by the 1980s, excluding those with more than four titles in the timeframe. That means: OKC, Sacramento, Atlanta, Knicks, Hawks, Wizards, Philly, Detroit, Portland, GSW, Bucks*.

The four-ring limit excludes the Lakers and Celtics, which would have significantly raised the overall talent level.

Top-end talent here includes: Wilt, KAJ, Steph, KD, Giannis, Walton, Erving, Moses, Barkley, Drexler, SGA, Oscar, Klay, Allen, Butler, Ewing, Hill, Lillard, Frazier, Reed, Embiid, among others.

* (I didn't include Baltimore Bullets, I don't think they're relevant and probably will be out-of-timeframe)

With March Madness about to start, it would be cool to see you guys do a College Blue Bloods draft, where the pool is players who played at "Blue Blood" and "Blue Blood-ish" schools: Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, UConn, UCLA, Syracuse, Georgetown, Indiana, Villanova, Arizona, Gonzaga, Michigan State, Michigan.

Building on the college theme since this guy now covers college basketball for Fox Sports, a Jim Jackson draft, where the pool is players from teams that Jim Jackson played for.

I wish, but I unfortunately don't have the time to devote to it. But I enjoy following all the drafts that you guys do.

A college theme draft would be great.

Could make it a pairs draft too, though I know we've had a lot of those recently.

How do you define a bench player?

Don't know a lot about colleges so the idea didn't thrill me and I'm having a hard time judging it. Personally would require a lot of research from me. But I may still join (may as well not)

I think the idea would be just to draft NBA players, but we would create a pool of 10-12 schools where anyone drafted must have attended one of those schools in the pool.

The three players designated to the bench with less court time than the starters. So if you have a star on the bench they can't have more court time than the starter at the position he is playing.

Basketball Reference has lists of players by college so the research wouldn't be that difficult. Not sure if I'd want as many as 12, but I don't know how many are required to create a viable pool.

Drafting players by college conference would be fun - if only the teams did not jump around conferences so much in recent decades
Kids played football, drove cars, went to school, celebrated life; while soldiers, heroes, their brothers struggled to find their way home from war; and young boys watched and grew wiser in their dreams.
