The UNC guy said he was not in the room when they decided to include his team but there was definitely some influence there big time.

But he was in the room when they selected the other 67 teams. Or didn't select certain teams. His influence is all over this. I feel bad for WVU, but there doesn't seem to be a legal case. Just trash all around. Couldn't agree more than guys who are incentivized by their program shouldn't be involved at all.

Maybe don't lose to a 3-17 Colorado team in the first round of your conference tournament? What am I missing here outside of the admittedly bad optics of the UNC AD being a little too close to the selection process? Both teams had basically identical overalls and UNC had the better conference record. I don't give a **** about the "Quad 1" crap. Actual politicians devoting energy and resources into this stuff will never not be embarrassing. Their governor is a clown.

They should wait to form the committee until they know which teams have a chance to make the tournament, then stock the committee with people from schools with no shot.

I really do not give a **** about WVU, or UNC either. Why is a person who can be incentivized by a team being in the tournament involved in the selection process for said tournament? That wouldn't and shouldn't fly anywhere. It just shouldn't even be a thing. Staff it with people who don't work for these schools. Why do we need ADs and Conference Presidents presiding over it?

Can you imagine NFL playoff participants being decided by a committee, with the Chicago Bears owner presiding over that selection committee?

Yea, of course you're 100% right.

Unfortunately it does happen all over in other stuff though, with the most glaring example in politics/business.

Sure. This is the most glaringly wrong it's ever been, though. Seems like an appropriate time to be noisy about it instead of just sweeping it under the rug with all the other bad stuff? I dunno, it just seems like there's this weird 'ho hum' attitude about it instead of piling on how broken college athletics and the $$$ that drives it all really is (which we should be doing, IMO).
