He needs to watch Butler. Watch Giannis. How do they get to the bucket? By being quick but never rushing. Kuminga rushes too much still. He needs to realize he's naturally fleet enough and strong enough that he never needs to rush.
I would guess that for most of his life he's been bigger and athletically better than basically everyone he played against until the NBA and his tendencies are that he can just beat whoever, but he can't just do that in the NBA. It is hard to change that mentality and what you're talking about with Butler or Giannis, that takes a great amount of work and time to retrain your tendencies. If he takes a leap, I doubt it happens in the next couple of years. Right now, from what I'm seeing, he's still a project 4 years into his NBA career and Golden State has to figure out if they're willing to pay him and hope he makes that leap fairly soon (which could happen).
Can they do a S&T with the cap situation this summer?

Of course, I'm not sure about the apron situation but they at the least can take as much or less back from a S&T.
If Kuminga did those cuts off ball like Moody or GP II does, instead of seeing a layup, Kuminga would be hammering it home and possibly getting in and 1 situation.

Kuminga plays like he's the #1 guy on a team but unfortunately for his pride and ego, he will never be good enough for that role.

I've had to watch Herro do basically what Kuminga is doing, Herro in year 6 finally cut out a lot of the bad in his game dribbling around looking for his shot, taking a lot of midrange shots but he's altered his game, worked on finishing with his left and going higher off the backboard and he's a much more efficient player. When Kuminga starts pounding the ball he's stalls the offense and his teammates have a pretty good understanding he's not passing so they quit cutting and making the defense adjust.

I am exceedingly optimistic and have no doubt they should pay him. He's already made massive improvements with the ball in his hands this season in regards to pacing and staying in control. But development is always an uneven process. Regardless, the impact Jimmy is making on Kuminga's game is obvious.
So the idea he should be traded just so he can breakout next year or at most the year after? Madness and stupidity.

But he will pass. He's waiting for someone to make a cut when he's backing his man down, but it happens far too infrequently. Last night, Jimmy made a cut and Kuminga delivered a perfect little bounce pass from the low block and Jimmy got an uncontested layup. Easy peasy. I don't think Kerr knows yet how to use Kuminga, but I have no doubt Jimmy will help the team figure it out.

Do you think he's going to be a ~60% TS% player next year? I don't and that's what you need from a high-volume player if you want to win. Maybe it's worth it to pay him and hope he's ready by the time the max contracts are done in 2 more years.

18-6 quarter so far. Reverse of the 2nd. edit: 24-9 now.
This lineup is insanity. Podziemski Draymond Moody Santos Kuminga?

Tons of TOs, the role-players tried to do too much and now Butler's trying to do too much to stop the bleeding.

How long has this quarter lasted??
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

The role-players are trying to play outside their roles, trying to make plays instead of ending plays and with that just giving up TOs and bad shots.

8 turnovers in the quarter after 5 in the first half doesn't help, but the real issue is that Kuminga is playing worse than any of the role players and that's why they all feel the pressure to step up.

He's a terrible passer and playmaker.

He will eventually. For instance, Giannis didn't eclipse 60% TS% until his 6th/age 24 season when it took a huge leap to 64% and the Bucks went from a ~.500 team to the top team in the East.
