Good matchup with Allen tonight. Helps with Mobley back in the lineup as well.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Sengun and Sabonis are nice offensive players, but centers that don't defend don't scare anyone. They'll never beat the best teams in a 7-game series.
As for Gobert, he doesn't belong on the list.
Zubac isn't beating any playoff team on his own lmao. He's not Wilt or Dwight. His DFG% has a 1.2% difference than Sengun on the same amount of shot attempts. He's not some generational defender compared to the rest of the field. I can think of a few centers in the league who'd make the Clippers better if they replaced Zubac. Right now they're at a 45 win pace with Zubac as their third best player. That's cool and all, but a few centers could help add wins to that total.
Zu holds his counterpart to -3.3% overall from the field versus -1.4% from the character less guy
Within 6 feet, that goes to -8.8% for Zu, vs -5.3%.
Within 10 feet, that is -8.5% to -3.7%.
Might not be generational, or second best in the association, but that's quite a difference.

Man, what a night for this thread. Zu with 26/17 on 13-18 while Mobley and Allen have combined for 23/11 on 10-18

Zu with a statement game vs the best frontcourt in the NBA. 28/17 so far with 3 min left. Crushing Jafro and Mobley. Hook shots, spin moves, dunks, put backs. A true 90s all star center.

I said it once and I'll say it again: 2nd best center in the association.

My 2 favourite Clippers from the Mavs/Clippers rivalry, Mann and Zu, sad that clown Nico didn't trade for Mann instead Martin...
Defense wins draft lotteries!
Fortune favours the bold, so it ducked Nico Harrison.

I’m sure Mavs could have easily gotten him. He was low confidence and having a rough year for the Clips this year with a confusing role. He’s been great for the Hawks though. Lots of 12-14 point games with hustle plays.

Re: How good is Ivica Zubac?
His back to the basket game is miles better than it was even a couple years ago. He's an absolute load on the boards. Acquiring Ben Simmons was a low key important pickup as they can rest him now and not have the second unit get run off the floor.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Harden has elevated him big time. But his post game has also really improved plus he is better at passing out from the double. Tied with Sengun and Bam I would say.

Many reckon that his resurgence is the product of Harden playmaking, but it looks like he is in much better shape compared with previous seasons, with less body fat and more lean muscle. How good is Zubac now, is he firmly in 2nd tier of centers?. Is he one of the cornerstones of Clippers rebuild, or should they trade him while his value is high?
Solid center, tier 2 ceiling tho.
Dont have outside shot, not athletic enough as lob threat, and not enough of a bag/moves as top tier offensive threat. But strong balance, defense and rebounder with a few decent O moves.
Not Yo Ham Lakers!

He’s got the best array of post up moves in the NBA probably. Unlikely guys such as Jokic or Embiid who will shoot a lot of spot up from outside, he lives inside. He’s got the NBA’s best hook shot by a lot. And can now go to the hook or bank shot with either hand consistently.
In the past that may be true, but this year he’s had 20/20 games against the supposed DPOY contenders. He’s not limited in his bag, just his touches sometimes.

Zubac should fight for all-nba selection at center this year, yet somehow people still call him roleplayer...

Too bad Croatia did not qualify for Eurobasket, such talent wasted for this summer's international Basketball.

There are no positions on the All-NBA teams anymore, so I doubt he's in the conversation. In the old days he definitely would have been and rightfully so.

Rest of the league is glad you did it. This team with Zu in the middle... game over.

Re: How good is Ivica Zubac?
A vital role player in a championship team-- too bad these Clippers team has no real superstar or anyone of that level anymore.
The big but of course is when he gets "exposed" in the playoffs again. Much like a Gobert, he'll be attacked endlessly on the perimeter.
