It's a really easy sell when we don't have a starting caliber SF either.

If and when the Bucks trade Dame (and Giannis) I'm going to want rookie contract guys and a ton of picks.

It's the best course of action, at least getting young guys locked into rookie deals that could blossom. Not sure how many picks Dame will fetch at this point.

Get ready for Fred Van Vleet, Jabari Smith and maybe the Suns pick (12th currently).

If Dame does great in the playoffs maybe we get Reed or Eason instead.

Houston remains a logical partner. Would like to squeeze Eason or Whitmore out of them.

I think it’s possible to reload with a better fitting player/s in place of Dame and a new coach. Not interested in watching rando scrubs play when the Bucks own no draft picks, tanking isn’t going to fix anything.

I just want the team to be fun again

Big drag about Sims. But at least it seems reasonable likely he'll be ready for the playoffs.

On the flipside -- plenty of people have been calling for the Bucks to seriously test Giannis at the 5, which it sure seems like we'll be compelled to do.

KPJ's minutes have also been extremely modest with plenty of reason to think he could pick up more of the offensive load with more clock.

If Dame has another gear we need to see it too. Give him what he wants and let him play more off the ball:

“My biggest joy is being able to play off the ball and not be on the ball so much,” Lillard said. “That’s gonna be a weapon for us in the playoffs.”

https://clutchpoints.com/nba/milwaukee-bucks/bucks-news-damian-lillard-reveals-biggest-joy-playing-kevin-porter-jr

KPJ
Dame
Prince
Kuzma
Giannis

Kuzma has barely played the 4 for us so far while Prince has been the 2 in jumbo lineups. And we can still do that some of the time at least with Brook.

But for the next month the Greek Freak needs to rebound and play defense as a 5 much more like KG in his Boston era.

Giannis should step back from running the offense and Russell Westbrook barrel rolling to the hoop for 30 points per game, which even he's admitted he's gotta do to extend his career, and Doc needs to make it happen if only over the next month to prevent a third year in a row where he gets hurt.

I think you need to bring back a player who you think could break out and was one of those high pedigree guys but hasn’t put it together yet, plus an even younger guy or two on top of that.

Dame for Jalen Green, Reed Shepperd, and Jock Landale

I’d love to add Eason on top, but I doubt all of that is happening.

Throw the bag at an established basketball ops guy like Masai in the offseason. I have zero interest in completely blowing it up until we reset the culture/infrastructure. It's long overdue and nothing really matters until this organization commits to being competent and professional (top-down accountability) again.

Ownership needs to eat the cost of Doc's contract and move on this offseason. Then, and I don't know if I'm ready to say this, but time for seeing what Dame could get us. I don't dislike a Van Vleet, Jabari, Suns 12th pick for him tbh. Also assuming we could make a good choice on that 1st round pick...

This is honestly better than that FVV and just Eason trade that you love though lol. Jabari's still only 21 and has much more offensive potential yet to unlock, and a lottery pick in this draft is ideal, also as a trade asset. You obviously ask for another asset/draft pick if we're being forced to eat Van Vleet's bad salary though.

Give me Bob Myers and then lock the owners out of the building.

New Coach (Vogel? Borrego? Cassell? Chris Quinn?)
New GM (Masai? Myers? Tayshaun Prince?)

- Bobby opt-in and trade along with Pat to Orlando for KCP
- Brook re-sign for 2-yrs $20 million

I'd then be pretty open to using the full MLE to absorb a salary rather than signing a free agent outright. Maybe NAW if he'd do a 3-yr $36 mil type deal, but otherwise find a starting caliber wing with that flexibility. Shop Kuzma around for the best possible 3&D wing and use the MLE to re-sign Trent if that former scenario doesn't materialize. Fill out the bench with vet minimums and whoever wants to come back (Prince, Jericho). See what a more balanced roster with a capable coach can do and then get ready to blow it up at the deadline if we're still a 4-6 seed.

Yeah if Myers is willing to GM again, I am taking him. I haven't given up on this season yet but if we go out in the first round again then Horst and Doc will be gone.

Do we know when Horst's contract expires?

I'm not seeing anything definitive -- here's how it was described last year amidst the Detroit news:

We don’t quite know how much time is left on Horst’s contract with the team. He last signed a contract extension in October 2021 to add years onto a deal that was, at that time, set to expire after the 2022–23 season. That extension was described as “long-term” when it was signed so you’d assume it will last him through at least the 2024-2025 season

He’s a certified genius compared to Horst and has a good relationship with Giannis, could and probably will do a lot worse(step on up Doc!)

I would love to have intel on who Zach Kleiman's brightest lieutenant is. Or just poach Kleiman.

FVV has a team option on his $44mm deal and he's needed to match salaries. And yes, I'd push Houston for as much as they'd give back.

At the same time, our current perception of Dame's value is different (higher) than where the league's perception will be come June (unless Dame does great in the playoffs). We're sort of in a Durant/Suns type position here.

You don't have to convince me about replacing Horst.

Toronto has been a dumpster since losing Kawai. They were good the year after the championship and since then just horrible.

They had VanVliet, Anunoby and Siakam, each of whom were coveted by many posters on here. Since 2019-20, the Raptors have been very bad.

You want a Masai type rebuild that shows no signs of success after 5 years?

The problem in replacing people like coaches and GMs is trying to get someone better. I don't mind taking a chance on someone, but not someone who we know isn't good.
