Well that’s on the front office and ownership to sell Luka on a vision of the future and why it makes sense to wait for 2026. I think no matter what, we need to find a way to keep Reaves on a cost controlled contract. I think it would be a huge mistake giving up Reaves but bring in players that complement Luka in the mean time.

Fingers crossed that Utah would be willing to accept the Mark Williams package for Walker Kessler.

Kessler is a FA next summer.

Not sure if Ainge and Utah want to pay for defensive minded center esp when the Jazz drafted center Filipowski last year and he looks solid with some offensive moves.

I say a good chance they accept Knecht, FRP and swap.

Think there is a half decent chance Lakers trade Gabe this summer and gib that role to Bronny!

.484/.426/.786 are solid numbers in g-league averaging 22.8/5.3/4.5/2.0 steals too.

42.6% on almost 8 3-point shots per game is solid af!

Would Ayton be a good option for the LAKERS this summer? Ayton is motivated and with elite playmakers around him, he is probably the most talented center in the price range the Lakers can afford, plus his contract expires in 2026, which keeps them as 2026 free agency players...

I wouldn't give up Vando for him. His price is somewhere around the tax MLE (probably less) and he makes like 3-4x more than that: he has some range, some defense (if he feels it), no effort and basically no impact. He would instantly become our worst player in terms of impact/dollar. Vincent + Maxi is the max we should offer for that contract imo, but that's not enough salary. So pass.

I guess Knecht would be sent to a 3rd team that adds value (they have Sensabaugh who is a very similar prospect)

Knech to Magic or Nets
FRP(by Magic or Nets)FRP 31 (Lakers)FRP Swap 30 (Lakers) to Jazz
Kessler to Lakers

No. I'm keeping Reaves. Jax and Lively are kinda similar players, so, no. I'm gonna keep Austin and just look for other bigs available.

Lively is a way better player than Hayes, but I don't think Reaves is expendable for this team. At least not now... Maybe if we wait a year and Knecht shows that he can step up and be like 80% as good as Reaves, then maybe... But right now Knecht is far away from him both offensively and defensively.

Lakers management needs to watch how this current group performs, in the last bunch of games. The've won 7 in a row and started playing this awesome next-level of defense, before Davis was even traded. They should NOT trade contributing players just because "it would be nice to have a better center"..

Look at the centers for the last bunch of NBA Champs; who was the Celtics center last year? who was the center for all those Warrior teams during their championships?

Reaves with be able to team up with Luka when LeBron retires and should NOT be traded.

Knecht is a great player, I heard some sports caster say the other day, that if he had been drafted higher by a crappy team and was getting starters minutes, he would probably be ROY!

Kessler did ok against the Lakers, but he is not worth Knecht, and a 1st round pick...!

This recent defensive up-tick also coincides with Vando's return.

And we still have Reddish waiting in the wings..

Life in Laker Land is good, even great right now, let's enjoy the ride...!
I try not to get too excited about things I can not control....!

Still, No. Have you seen how Hayes is playing lately? Last night he had a good game. Reaves could run a team and I don't know if Lively could do it. Knecht can score but not yet consistently. So if I would want another center aside from Hayes then I'll just re-do that Mark William package, or wait a year and keep Knecht and just sign another big in free agency.

There are reports that the Jazz will be spending at least the next 2 seasons trying to lose as much as they can to pick high in the lottery... does that mean Kessler (in a contract year) will be available?
could Markkanen be an option for the Lakers?...
(this idea taken from the transactions photo, from a Magic fan) Reaves/Knecht/Hachimura/Maxi+FRP 31 for J.Suggs/Goga

A lot will depend on which players will play well on the playoffs and I hope and pray Hayes would prove me wrong.
I like Reaves because of his high IQ, not relying solely on his shooting but he also make so many smart plays, spotting/setting up teammates, drawing fouls and charges etc unlike Rui, Knecht etc. But before worrying about his contract, the one guy they need to keep, in the coming free agency is DFS because of his player option.
Guys who can hit 3's and play solid defense has proven to be very valuable for all teams. Boston won it all with at least 4 of them,
Dallas were able to upset OKC and TWolves last playoffs because PJ Washington and DJJ were able to hit 3's.
OKC has been dominating this year because they have 4
and the Lakers didn't start playing great defense until Lebron activated his Pippen 2.0 version AND after acquiring DFS on Dec 31st.
Reddish is not playing and Vando has mins restriction because they are liabilities on offense.

Kai Jones anyone?

Mavs picked him up after he got waived by the Clippers, but he's the archetype of raw athletic big that can really blow up next to Luka.

Yeh he had that infamous mental episode and got cut from the Hornets. But he's still 24 yo, and for the minimum, he's probably worth a look in the summer

Below is the list of player I reckon to be keepers on this team

Luka Doncic
Dorian Finney-Smith
Rui Hachimura
Jaxson Hayes
Bronny James
LeBron James
Dalton Knecht
Markieff Morris
Austin Reaves
Jarred Vanderbilt
Gabe Vincent

Yes, I am all for keeping this team intact with this great chemistry. Markieff Morris will be a locker room presence.

Gabe is a bit arguable here. But I will try to keep him as far as possible.

Goodwin is good and plays really well. I will be shocked if he is not offered a nice contract by another team this offseason which the Lakers can't match.

Trade Kleber and Milton.

Koloko will still be our 2 way if possible

I will be more aggressive in this year's draft and that a big men in the 2nd round - Ryan Kalkbrenner maybe - and I like Jayden Quaintance very much. 6'9" with 7'3" wingspan. You can play him like DFS / Vando and also put him as your small ball center. Will not be surprised if the front office can find other hidden gems

Sign some usable Vet min guys to fill out the roster. Be mindful DFS is waiting for his last pay raise and big contract.

Guys Kai Jones is blowing up on the Mavs

6'11", 220 lbs, bouncy like Hayes, sure he had that mental episode and got cut by the Hornets, then the Clippers, but he would be perfect here on a minimum as Hayes' backup
