Up and down game for Cade but when it counted he was the guy we needed him to be.

An at times painful game to watch but the end put me in a good mood.

Ausar with some super important plays on both ends, and Duren had a bunch of key offensive boards as well. It felt like Beasley hit a lot of threes early but then took some harder ones late. Hopefully this is the toughest of our current stretch of games which includes playing a depleted Mavs team in Dallas 46 hours from now, and then back home to play the injury riddled Pels and Spurs... we really should be riding a 5 game winning streak into our matchup with the Cavs as long as we don't have another Wizards type letdown game.

Just catching up with the game thread after watching the win.

The Reggie = Dennis stuff seems spot on to me. Emotional players that can get taken out of their game, prone to some unnecessary hero ball, but talented. Prefers the highlight pass to the simpler play.

I’d have no issue letting Dennis continue his journey as a vagabond. Seems like an intelligent, solid dude and all, but unless he’s way cheap, like vet min cheap because he likes the vibe and a team on the upswing, I don’t see a real need to invest in him unless we’re trading Ivey. If Ivey stays, he needs minutes at PG for his development, and Sasser is still around.

Yeah I’d like to hope we go back to Ivey playing starter off ball + second unit lead guard next season. I wouldn’t invest much in a “3rd” PG unless that player can slot in positions 1-3.

He's had a few nights where he's been making it and really engaged diving for balls... and he's had a few nights where his energy level just isn't there especially when he has a couple misses. Its like he needs to get going on offense to be really engaged and we're likely not going to be able to offer that role for him here especially once Ivey is back.

It's entirely possible that Schroder is a little worse next year at 32 and Sasser is a little better in year three in the league at age 25... to the point where it makes sense just to roll with Sasser at his low price as a third string guard.

Maybe, he wasn't in the right physical space. I did seem\ him grimacing badly while trying to stretch like he was in a lot of pain on the sideline in the 4th.

Here are Cades highlights. The spectacular 3 on 1 Cade block and save is around 2:50 mark.

Amazing how the Pistons, Tigers, and Lions have all gotten so much better in the last season or two.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Still concerned with Duren's defense, rim protection is still inconsistent and quality big men still go off against him. That could be a problem with the Pistons having to face Turner (who always destroys the Pistons), KAT or Giannis in the 1st round. We might see Stewart down the stretch of playoff games to slow these guys down. He should have been out there on that last defensive possession tbh.

Schroder has one poor game and the claws come out. Very much disagree with the RJ comparisons. Schroder is twice the floor general RJ ever was here.

Ya i see Stew getting more minutes, even in a 2 big man upfront with him and Duren together

I'm pumped for the playoffs. I think Cade gonna go off a d i have the feeling Ausar will explode for us too(hopefully)
Ausar and to a lesser extent Holland are our main ways of improving going forward. Ivey too obviously. Thinks are looking goooood

Strawman. Feel free to look over my previous posts and you'll see it has nothing to do with "one poor game".

Disagree all you want, but pls don't mischaracterize my position.

I like Schroder in terms of being a backup pg but am I the only one that inwardly cringes every time that he is left completely open by the defense for a three and he takes it? This seems to happen 2-3 times per game. The misses are often... not great.

Given the other shooters that we often have on the floor with him (Beasley, Simone, THJ, or Cade) I'd much rather have any of those guys take that shot....

1. Did I quote you? Yours may have been the first post about Dennis, but it wasn't the only one.

2. I took you up on your invitation. Not much negative at all. A couple games ago, you suggested maybe he should be starting.

Must not have looked very hard. But you wanna stick to your "one bad game" guns go right ahead. I made a respectful request. You can respond as you wish.
