Teams always have the option to keep a player if they don’t like the bids. It isn’t always highest bidder if they don’t like the bids in the first place, and I wouldn’t blame the Bucks here.

I'm surprised by the near unanimous rejection by Blazer fans. Man I would love to see a lineup of Dame/Sharpe/Avdija/Camara/Clingan. I think there's enough defensive firepower there to make up for Dame's deficiencies. And on offense, Dame would finally have a team that has options to play with. I also don't see Grant or Simons fetching a ton of value on the trade market, so why not use them to bring Dame home?

My only concern would be Scoot and Dame somehow fitting together. Scoot has shown great development since the calendar turned to 2025, and I would hate to ask him to continue coming off the bench for another 1-2 seasons. But all in all, with how much Dame means to Portland, I am likely taking this deal.

I kind of copped out and pointed out the issues from Portland’s end, but I probably do actually do it. Scoot’s development was my only concern. That said, maybe Dame is good for his development. If Dame could help him with his shot (which is already improving), Scoot could be lethal by the time Dame is ready to take a back seat. Though, would Scoot ask out before that if development really does go well?
