I just don't see the benefit of lessening the importance of regular season divisional games

Especially in this instance where it would lessen the importance of the good divisional games (ie the games late the year between two good teams in the same division where it's lose and your going on the road round 1 versus lose and meh nothing much changes)

NBA has absolutely ruined division rivalries and it would be a shame if the NFL takes away something that makes winning the division more meaningful/important. They already re-seed playoff teams after each round so why is this an issue? Just stop changing things that don't need fixing.

I think there should be some punishment for NOT winning your division more than I care about rewarding the crappy division winner.

Support. Always have.

A proposal that would eliminate the automatic first down that comes with an illegal contact or defensive holding penalty, submitted by the Lions, who led the league last season with 11 flags for defensive holding.

Lol.

Brian Branch just can't help himself, Lions threw a hail mary proposal.

Yup. He might have to wait til catastrophe takes out a starter on a potential playoff team, needing a placeholder. Hardly the situation he was hoping for

I got to imagine he could get a lot more money now than mid season

At this point, I don't think it's about money anymore. He is getting plenty of money from the Jets anyway.

yeah, everyone says that but it's tough to turn down an extra 8-figures.Its not like he signed min contracts to help with the cap. IIRC any restructuring he did to help the cap ended with him getting a ton of money

I don't think it's about the money at all. For his professional post-playing career he needs a big rebound somewhere. He's completely toxic right now and needs some time in the public eye where he isn't a lunatic.

I think the problem is money. But it's that he's getting the same offer Russell Wilson did last year and he considers it a slap in the face and thinks if he "plays hard ball" he can get a team to bend

I'm guessing ESPN buying Red Zone from the NFL will be a disaster for fans. They paid $2 billion plus gave the league an ownership stake in the network, you can bet they will charge a juicy fee and have tons of ads. And instead of bringing back the great Scott Hanson (his contract is up) they will bring in McAfee, Stephen A. and/or others and turn it into a clown show.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Aaron Rodgers is a moron. I’ve defended him to the point I’m sick of defending him. Pittsburgh is sitting there begging him and it’s the perfect situation for him to ride out on his high horse but he’s conflicted? Why? Get out of your emotions for once in your life and make a decision. Either retire and go away or take your last chance and do something constructive with it. If legacy means half as much to him as he’s led everyone to believe, going to Pittsburgh is a no brainer. It’s a historic franchise, they have a respected coach, 2 good downfield WRs, a DPOY and most importantly, they actually want him there. If you even want to go 1 further, it’s a cultured and well diverse place that’s consistently voted as one of the most livable cities in the entire country. It makes no sense there’s even anything to consider other than signing a contract unless he truly is considering retiring but if that’s really the case then again, just go away….

And along those lines, I’ve heard Rodgers is looking for a culture such as the one in Green Bay.

I get it if that sounds a little strange after the drama of the four-time MVP’s final years as a Packer. But over the past few months, Rodgers has been open with people around him on his renewed appreciation for what he had for 18 seasons in Wisconsin. Call it a grass-is-greener dynamic if you want, but it definitely has felt, to some of those around him, like spending a couple years as a New York Jet made Rodgers view the situation he had more favorably.

Most of us called this from day one. His problem was us getting rid of players after their prime. Smartest man in the room. But it's a business and every team does this. The ones with owners do it even faster and with less couth than Green Bay. You're not going to find an organization like Green Bay because every team you go to will have an owner meddling in your affairs.

But I guess Pittsburgh makes sense as they are the closest you can probably get.

What will Aaron do, if Pittsburg tires of the Hamlet "to be, or not to be" deicsion shennanigans and they move on to a different vet?
