Very good use of cap space here. Very smart . Basically makes it a one year deal. Pays DeBo money he might not have gotten other wise so he'll be happy. Very smart piece of gm cap magic.

But in the NFL dead money can follow the contract after the player leaves. Doing this negates the 12 something million in dead cap that could have followed in 2026.queridiculo wrote:gambitx777 wrote:Very good use of cap space here. Very smart . It was already a one year deal, he is in the final year of his 3-year contract extension with the 49ers.
This deal didn't do anything for the cap, if anything, it might have bumped his cap number if the added incentives are likely to be earned.

Exactly.
There is no dead money when the contract expires.
Dead money covers the prorated portion of the signing bonus remaining on the contract.
All guaranteeing the deal is provide Samuel’s assurances that he will see the entirety of his non-guarantee 2025 salary.
There are no savings or any kind of salary cap implications that have been averted with the restructuring.

Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Like it's a one year deal, if it works out, he'll get extended, if not there's no financial hit to the team.

Idk like I mean they needed an upgrade but is he? Coming off a bum knee? Idk they have no one else. Like no one their wr core is one of the worst in the league.LyricalRico wrote:
Yep, surprising overpay and I'm not even sure who they were bidding against. Can he give them more coming off an injury than a guy like Amari Cooper could at a cheaper price?
