20.2 points
8.5 rebounds
4.7 assists
6.3 FTA's
.382 3P%
.616 TS%

Here is the list of players this year who have played 1300+ minutes while posting per 36 averages of 20, 8 and 4 or better or a TS% of .600 or better:

Jokic
Giannis
Lebron
Sabonis (actually 19.9 points)
Deni

Let's give an honorable mention to Luka, Tatum and Cade who miss the TS% cutoff (Tatum is .588 and Luka is .570, Cade .559) but it's understandable due to their heavy scoring load (26.7, 28.1, 26.2 points per 36 respectively). Mobley (3.7 assists) and Siakam (7.7 rebounds) also barely miss the cut but should be mentioned.

Deni is in the company of mostly All-NBA tier guys.

A couple of other notable guys post the points, rebounds and assists to make the cut, but do so while being significantly less efficient than Deni with worse defense, so I don't think they are as impactful. They include: Miles Bridges (.551 TS%), Harden (.570 TS%), Barnes (.527 TS%), and LaMelo (.534 TS%). Deni is outplaying these guys while being paid about one-third their salaries.

But at least we have Bub Carrington and a mid-first-round pick in 2029.
The Wizards gave up a future all-star in Avdija.

31 on 18 you said?
How about 36 on 16? 75/66.7/88.9 splits.
I never thought I'd say it, but he's playing like an all star. For a few years now, he comes back from the all-star break a much better player. It looks like it's going to be years before you could argue this deal was the correct move.
Jimmy Recard wrote:Webber, Sheed, Ben Wallace, Rip…let’s go ahead and add Deni to the list
I felt that way the day the deal was made.

You don't trade a young, plus-defender, and terrific team player on a great contract for anything less than a known better player on a rookie deal.

Still could have been a decent move. It's possible we won, but won less than Portland, if you look at it as a positive sum thing.

This about some set up for me.
I remember feeling like such a homer last year when I was comparing Deni to Mikal Bridges and Wagner. I simply couldn’t comprehend how he wasn’t in the same conversation in terms of value.

When I heard on draft night that he was traded, I was in a bit of shock because of how great/long his contract is with our timeline, but I assumed that we got to top 12 pics in the next three years. When we fell short of that and couldn’t get anything out of Brogden, it more or less sealed it for me.

My recent statistical analysis of Deni didn't include last night's game. Deni is only getting better!

And since you brought it up, it took Deni only 20 shots to score 36 on Denver. It took Sarr 30 shots to score 34. That's a MASSIVE difference in efficiency.

I still don't understand the rationale behind this trade.

Did Will ever discuss this?

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

There's basically been zero accountability for the press that follows this team regularly for some time now. A bunch of reporters hoping to stay in the good graces of the franchise or move up to some better position somewhere else. Remember OJ Mayo used to break news on this team because he kissed Beal's ass? Microcosm of the reporters following this team.

So no, they've never been pressed on this, probably never will be. They said "change" so got a free pass. What could go wrong?

Portland likes our castoffs, they signed Sidy Cissoko to a two-way.

Hell man, 2-3 weeks into the season, a few others and myself were last of the mohicans. He got off to the rough start which wasn't surprising because Deni wasn't going to be the type to just shoot a ton of bad shots of his slump, especially on a new team with some established veterans (Grant and Ant), and the majority of the board looked like the Ewoks celebrating at the end of Return of the Jedi. Even a good portion of those against the trade started to say yeah maybe it was good after all.

I didn't have blind faith, I just have seen the type of player is and knew he'd pull out out of the funk. He was still doing a lot of Deni thing, just couldn't hit the ocean from three.

No they didn't. Go back and reread the first few pages of the thread. It was overwhelmingly negative about the trade.

I don't think there was a clear majority one way or the other.

At first it was uniform apoplectic condemnation. Then a sizable chunk went behind Dawkins' so called vision within a few days and essentially said we got a ton for Deni. Then Deni had the bad start and there were scarce few still saying it was a bad trade. Then he started to pick up his play and it's was urban warfare for a couple months between about 8-9 regular posters. Now he's playing so good, there's scarce few saying it was a good trade.

It's certainly had ebbs and flows. I just so happen to think that Deni is just going to keep balling so it'll become a thing about waiting to see how every single draft pick pans out and if they make it to hall of fame for the supporters.

Not exactly. Some of us absolutely hated the trade but just got over it and moved on. That's where i was. By the time the season started i just didn't feel like complaining about it any more.

The people who were ok with the trade kept posting and seemed like a bigger sample of the fans than they were in reality.

I mean that's fair regarding just some people being more gung ho about, but that's essentially the ebb and flow of what this thread has looked like.

I absolutely hated the trade when it happened. I absolutely hated the trade every step of the way since then. And I absolutely hate it now.

The closest I ever came to getting past it was in ceding the obvious point that if Bub turned out better than Deni, then the trade would have made sense. I never thought that was likely though, and I still don't.
