For whatever reason this trade gave me a Dune like premonition of Kyrie leaving this summer in a sign and trade and Trae being traded there for Max Christie and 35M in other contracts.

I can't imagine Kyrie wanting to go to Atlanta, especially without Trae.

For whatever reason, nobody wants to go to Atlanta. It's even less logical than us not being a big market team, which at least has taxes and the famous American provincialism (500 passports or so in the entire country) to blame.

OT but it's an interesting question, why isn't Atlanta an NBA destination? I'm speaking as an old white guy but I did watch the Donald Glover series "Atlanta". :D It's got weather. It's considered the capital of the American south. I think it has a high place in African American culture . It feels like it's similar to Toronto in that it's a city African American players like to visit and party in, but not to live in and play for the local team.

As you say, that makes sense for Toronto but not for Atlanta. Maybe it's just the franchise has never been a real success. I don't think it draws well.

It's a Rap city. What New York was for the golden era of hip hop. Rappers have been going there and living there for a while.

But yeah not necessarily NBA and basketball. They love their college sports a lot down there

quickley should be our 4th option most nights, and with poeltl and dick improving on o, sometimes 5th...i do think that really suits quickley because he can focus on his strengths and not force shots and be more efficient

i main thing is i want my none top 3 scoring option to play better D, and he makes a lot for a 4-5 option right

He's a walking 20-5-5 guy.

I'm super excited to watch him next season.

That floater is slowlyyyy coming back as well.

Hes literally the only guy on the roster who can score against a defense with league average efficiency. Injuries really have ruined a great year. He never really found a groove this year because of the injuries, but he has looked great IMO.

I think he goes off next year and averaged 22/4/6 with a TS between 58-60 percent.

In his last 13 games - he's averaging 20/5/5 in 31mpg (44/38/84 splits) - PER36: 24ppg/6apg/6rpg

His season totals are now 22ppg (58% TS) / 7rpg / 4rpg (per36)

ALL-STAR NUMBERS.

You know, normally I wouldn't be excited about such tepid efficiency, but our team needs it so much and he IS a good shooter. For a small dude, that's pretty impressive for a guy who isn't a tier-2 star or better. Here's hoping that he's healthy next year and that playing alongside BI helps him even more.

Does anyone else think he's still rattled from the injury on opening night?

His float game is back which opens up his 3 and lets him get down hill. Quickly and Barnes should get going 1st, RJ in the 3rd and key BI close it out. IQ and Barnes can set the tone early

Samson good note on quickley here and the numbers match the eye test .. (from zatz)
the raps shoot less 3's and have way less shots at the rim when he's on the floor

he's only had 5 paint touches that have turned into layups or dunks for teammates. that's concerning.
he just doesn't create enough. he's a gunner 3pt guard right now.

If Raps get #2, they are 100% taking Harper

Hes not a natural playmaker, but he's a willing passer which separates him from other shoot first guard (Clarkson, Sexton). I think the idea was for him to be a secondary ball handler next to Scottie, but it's looking like Scottie isn't that guy. Ideally you'd want Quickley to play off Scottie, but Scottie is too passive, so Quickley is tasked with doing alot more.

IQ and BI are such good players when they can stay healthy and get into a nice rhythm. I really hope they are able to do that this season
