That would be pretty legit and help both sides. The reason this is interesting is because OKC has a two year window before things get complicated for them. 2026-2027 is SGA last year before a super max. It's Dorts last year. Chet Holmgren would need a max extension and is a RFA. Cason Wallace last year. Jalen Williams would need a max extension and would be a RFA. Jaylin Williams is an UFA. You can't pay all those guys without having a 200M tax bill like the Celtics.
And the Thunder have a ton of picks. So they're going to need to consolidate. I dont know who they'd target but they have to do SOMETHING. They are so easily the most interesting team to watch the next few years. So much talent on a young roster, will constantly compete for titles for the next 5-10 years, will HAVE to be involved in some crazy trades, and they hold the most draft pick capital out of any team. Being a thunder fan right now is absolutely cloud 9 type stuff.
If you're OKC you also need top talent that's cheap. Why not blow the doors off whoever gets the Cooper Flagg pick? You could send them Jalen Williams and draft capital. Extremely fascinating stuff.
Hartenstein makes 30M in 2026-2027 and bam will be making around 51M. Given their cap decisions i don't think bam is the target.
