That was a pretty encouraging stretch of minutes he had there in the late 3rd early fourth quarter. He was good on both ends.

that stretch was easily the most complete I've ever seen him play. was more impressed by the defense in between the shots that he hit
and of course that deep 3 was the most "no, no, no, no, YES!" play I've seen all season
investigate Adam Silver

It's not shocking me that the youngest dude in the league who had to move to a different country as a French speaking teenager is not amazing us yet.
He can however move well on D, rebound and sometimes hits big 3's. That's something to build on. He isn't Kulboka level useless and may just surprise folks on here one day.

I don't think anyone was expecting to be amazed
Gaslighting folks for being down on a guy with 32/29/71 splits, who seemingly has no tangible offensive skill at all and his only defensive plus is "he tries hard" seems unnecessary.
He sucks. He's sucked all year. He might not suck in the future. However, there's no tangible evidence to base that on aside from blind hope that he'll magically figure it out. It is what it is

I would say the glimpses we saw last night was tangible evidence that maybe he'll figure things out.

It's just kind of funny for you to say there's literally no evidence to base any hope on after a performance like last night.
There's no resolve, I don't care if you are fixed on hating him and just dismiss anything positive he does. Last night he was legit impressive, I'd watch if you didn't.

"After a performance like last night" with an earth shattering 9/6/3 on 5 shots. When you set the bar so low I guess it's pretty easy to be legit impressed.
I guess that's to be expected when your stated goal for the year was keep Melo healthy.
I have no fixation on hating him (that's certainly some strong language btw). I have no want, need, or desire for him to suck at basketball. In fact, the exact opposite is true. I have nothing but hope that he doesn't suck.
He does though. Pretty clearly, obviously, and objectively a very bad NBA player this year.
It is legit aggravating, however, to have to listen to you try and brow beat anyone who doesn't share your unwaveringly blind optimism for the team.

I disagree with your characterization of me, but feel free to put me on ignore. I'll refrain from engaging with you going forward.

He just needs to keep working at being a pest on defense, bringing energy and shooting his 3s when the offense finds him. The game vs the Cavs was a good night for him.
He is kind of like Oubre in that it is going to be feast or famine with him. If the shots are going down it will usually be a good night.

Re: Eye of the Tiger: The Tidjane Salaun Thread
my personal opinion on his growth. i think he has developed his defensive awareness to understand and play his role. his offensive awareness is growing, he's added driving in and passing out to the perimeter for assists.
its small growth and from a very raw start but its something.
the energy and effort is undeniable. i can still see him becoming a good role player after a couple of years.

I'll give him a pass, first game back from an ankle injury ... more disappointed that Baugh is a brick in the D-League too. He's gotta figure something out there because i like pretty much the rest of his game

I was really hoping Hornets would have Castle fall in their lap. That wasn’t possible so Matas was the obvious pick to slot in between Miller and Williams. Oh well. Hopefully get some Flagg luck this year.
