Kings/Spurs they exchange picks
FRP 25 Hawks to KINGS
FRP 27 Spurs to SPURS..
The Kings are trying to win now and in this Draft in the range of Atlanta's selection (which the SPURS control) there are some archetypal forwards that would fit very well in Sacramento (Rashad Fleming/Asa Newell to name a few).
They have their own pick this year, which will likely fall into a higher range (otherwise the trade wouldn't happen) and getting their own pick back gives them a lot of flexibility for future moves.

Re: Kings/Spurs they exchange picks
Pushing a pick back two years, and likely significantly later in the first round, seems like it would require additional compensation.
Yeah, it’s the Spurs own pick, but if they were to accept this, it would make me think we don’t know some additional bad news about VW.

Re: Kings/Spurs they exchange picks
Spurs getting their own pick back gives them no additional flexibility, as they have the Hawks 27 pick unprotected. On top of that, the Hawks pick is going to be in the 12-16 range (depending on whether they make the playoffs or not) and the Spurs own pick will be, in all likelihood, much later than that. No reason the Spurs consider this trade, outside of some dreaded Wemby news (knock on wood).
The much more reasonable trade proposal would be the Spurs getting their own 27 pick back in return for giving the Kings back their unprotected swap in 2030 I believe.

Agree 100%. If this happens, it's terrible news for the Spurs for reasons unrelated to the pick itself.

Spurs are being clever about pushing value forward for when Wemby and crew are very expensive.
What if Sac used the higher upside Minny 31 pick to get this year’s ATL pick? Monte needs value now, Spurs need it later.

I don't think Spurs should do that, there's going to be a few interesting wing prospects in that range, and Spurs need to add talent. But if they were to do move the pick (say, to save money for free agency), I think they probably ask for more, like say:
1) Hawks 25 for TWolves 31 + a distant Kings swap
or
2) Hawks 25 + good SRP for TWolves 31 + Spurs 27
As a reference, last year Spurs traded the 8th pick in a perceived weak draft for the unprotected 31 TWolves pick + a top 1 protected 30 TWolves swap. A pick in the 12-16 range in this year's draft should probably return similar value.

I think sac owes SAS a couple 2nds in the OP.
SAC fans should be pretty upset if any of those counters happened. As a fan with a team projected to draft in the late lottery, I don’t see that range of the draft being that exciting. Definitely not a few spots after it…. Some decent wings, but not worth those asks. Just a normal draft after the top 3 imo..

yep, unfortunately there are questions around Wemby's durability.. doesn't even have to be "news", never mind the blood clot we all hope isn't serious, guy has a freakish build that might or might not last (like Chet)..
as a Kings fans, that makes me reticent to move the pick

Spurs aren't doing this.

Understandable. But if you follow the Spurs, you know that pick won't be a high lottery pick by then even if Wemby doesn't play a single minute. It'd take a catastrophy of epic proportions, multiple injuries, all development going wrong (Castle, Vassell, Sochan), whiffing the picks this year and next, missing in free agency... not impossible, but very unlikely given the pick is in 2 years and the team is young and upcoming. Give this team a serious coach and a couple modest vets that fit (like Rockets or Pistons did) and it's at worst a middle of the pack team even without Wemby. And if Wemby puts this behind him, well, it'll convey in the late 20s.
As for Wemby's health, he's nothing like Chet, he's been very healthy this issue aside, this is either going to be nothing long term, or catastrophic. All indications point to the former (especially given the location of the clot, it's very telling that it's in his shooting arm rather than his leg like Ausar's case) but you can't rule out anything... time will tell, I'm optimistic though.

He has a freakishly imbalanced body like Chet... which was the questions regarding his career when he came out... so far his health history in terms of games missed aren't like Chet, but his body type/potential long term concern might be similarly at issue

That was the narrative based on players of his height that, for the most part, weigh 100 lb more. I mean, judging his career arch by Yao Ming or Mark Eaton seems like a very poor argument, similar to Shaq's comparison to Bol Bol on account of his height.
Also, I don't think Wemby and Chet have the same body type at all, Wemby is thin but his frame is much larger, plus he takes care of his body to ridiculous levels. The issue here is completely unrelated to the pre-draft claims, and can happen to players much shorter (like Ingram). That is the only real concern so far.

Re: Kings/Spurs they exchange picks
Wemby and Chet absolutely do not have the same body type.
Chet has extremely narrow shoulders, which I suppose makes him extra slippery as a driver, but I very seriously doubt he can ever put on much functional weight. Because he completely lacks any padding, and his play style tends to be very aggressive on both ends, he’s quite likely to have frequent trouble staying healthy. That fall on his hip is something that happens all the time in the league, and he just isn’t built to deal with it. I hope he figures out what he should and shouldn’t attempt to do and has a relatively healthy career, but I have serious doubts.
Wemby is obviously extra tall and long, but his frame should support considerable additional muscle. He’s not going to hulk out like Giannis or anything, but he’s also not Manute Bol. I’m sure he’ll have the occasional injury, but if this blood clot issue is a one-of, there’s nothing in his body type to suggest a higher injury frequency (beyond the typical big guy foot and leg issues they all have to deal with).
