Personally no because the FO can’t get it done anymore but that should be their goal. When we miss the playoffs and unprotect those picks we have no option but to try and add a star to improve the team. Need a true number 1 option
There is no franchise with the expectation to add a cornerstone player months after losing one. Spurs and Heat probably the two franchise with the shortest gap between finding corning stone players to the next one. Spurs was Robinson to Duncan to Leonard (no gap) then a gap of 2018 to 2024 Wemby. Heat was Zo then Wade no gap then Lebron then losing Wade and a three year gap to Butler. What other franchise had shorter gaps than Heat and Spurs?

We have a cornerstone building block piece with major postseason success and the best coach in the world. There have been several players who have wanted to come to Miami, we just didn’t get the job done. The new apparent plan was to swing big in 2026, I expect a star added to this team summer 2026 at the latest. There will be a few available this summer as well, multiple that expire in 2026. If the opportunity prevents itself, jump at it. We have to be good next season, there’s no way around it.
I’m actually curious if there will be a new wave of guys wanting to come to Miami now that Jimmy is gone. I’m curious if some were turned off at the idea of teaming up with him in the past because of how he is ego wise.

Bam is a good player but far from a cornerstone building block player. I hope he becomes one but one at all as of yet. As of right now he shown he is a very good complementary player. Still some time to prove himself. And I think he has ear the right to give him a chance.
Even Butler wasnt consider a cornerstone player until he got here and proved himself. No one was willing to give him his own team except for the Heat

Holy smokes. Let’s max him for the 2027 trivia contest then.
Mia will surely be maxing dumber players who somehow both over-dribble aimlessly and surrender their dribble too soon, fail to identify mismatches, and fail to execute when they do gain mismatch advantages.
Give me intelligence over dumb-dumb youth any day of the week if the object is to indeed win games.
I too will always take the players with superior basketball IQ.
If you have a secret anti-aging formula, then you should have spoken up sooner so the Heat could have had the easiest solution possible--give it to Jimmy and agree to max out the newly rejuvenated Jimmy thru his age 37 season.
Absent that, you just seem to be emoting because you thrive in misery.
Unless you legitimately believe that the best way for the Heat to roster build to maximize their roster is to go all-in long term on investing in a player that is already at the historical cliff among NBA players for returning value as a max contract.
Like I've highlighted MANY times before, the number of NBA players that have returned value on a max salary at their age 37 season or beyond can be counted on one hand and they're exclusively top 10 players all time that are also the best scorers the game has ever seen.
I understand frustration about not getting prior deals across the finish line during Jimmy's window, but let's keep it real
I dont have the same concerns as you of Jimmy falling off a cliff in his age 37 year, but my focus was on the present in his age 35, and even his age 36 years, which I believe that had the team put the right pieces around him, Mia would be a viable championship contender, and that it would have been worth any falloff in his age 37 year which, again, I dont suspect will be as dramatic as some are forecasting it will be.

We already have the proof, he’s not THE guy but as your 2nd best player he can at least be a major piece to get you to the finals. If you have 2 players legitimately better than him you’re probably the favorites or interchangeable in the top 3 at least

The guy is the cornerstone player. You are in search and rebuild mode until that guy exist.

If you add Trae with Bam, you have a type of Zo and Hardaway combination. But even with that combination we all knew in order for the Heat to win a chip with that combo it had to be Zo to become a MVP calibur player.
Can Bam ever become an MVP calibur player?

I think he is in his own ways but I think we have different definitions of what we consider a cornerstone. For me he’s closing in on a decade with the franchise and he was drafted here. He’s the captain and the most decorated player in the organization by far, UD passed the torch and stamped Bam regardless of what some narratives hater fans want to run with on that front and he’s also the guy other players want to come to Miami to team up with. To me that’s a cornerstone of your franchise, he doesn’t necessarily have to be the best player on a championship team. I view UD as a cornerstone

No, I don't think Bam can become MVP calibre. He's a very good player, All-Star level, but I think that's above his ceiling.
He can still be a key building block for us as we make our ascension, but I'd say if he's 31-32 and we're not going anywhere, he's going to want to move to a contender at that stage.

Unless you have the best player in the world or a team with 2 all stars on a roster that is just completely stacked and a seamless fit you’re going to have to have a big 3 to win a championship these days imo.
Thats why I want to get KD

As for the Bam MVP stuff, I’d love to see him featured on a stacked roster with an elite playmaker who can get him in his spots and notices mismatches and forces them but I don’t think we’ll ever have a roster like that tbh. I think Bam will continue to add to his game as well but I don’t think Spo will ever allow him to be featured the way he wants to be featured either and he’s shown that by making guys like Rozier/Wiggins/our shooters priorities over him year after year, is what it is I guess.

As far as I'm concerned, keepers are:
Adebayo
Herro
Ware
Jovic
Larsson
2025 FRP
Everyone and everything else is non-core and can be moved for better fitting pieces.

Incorrect...Heat should be open to moving anyone outside of Bam. Grasping on to mid prospects is what got us in this mess.

I dunno...in theory....but players have quality/fit/cap criteria they need to hit....
Personally I would hope there is a way to Lock up Mitchell at a salary that makes him a net positive, but who knows what any of that would look like.
I really hope we get an offseason with a new offense and defense installed, and time to mesh Ware-Bam-Jovic as a rotation.

That doesn't mean those players aren't movable for the right price. Every player can be, for the right price. I'm just saying those are the guys without question I want to see on the 2025-26 Heat roster. Everyone else is a question mark.
I'd add Wiggins to that too, but I don't view him as a core piece going forward. Happy for him to stick around and help us not convey a high lotto pick next year though.
