Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 9
Holy ****, I just checked the Spurs schedule. I don’t care how ass this team is, no way we finish behind them, their schedule has got to be the toughest remaining schedule in the league or close to it. They’re about to get put through the wringer. We have to hope teams start resting guys against them

Honestly quite stunned we haven't given either Christopher or Keshad a look in the big leagues. The way this team has used 2-ways in the past, you're telling me that these guys couldn't help us now?

Kel'el Ware last 5:
14.2ppg
10.2rpg
1.4apg
1.4bpg
1.0spg
1.4tpg
30.2mpg
33/50 = 66%FG
4/14 3FG = 28%3FG
Looks like he has turned the corner after hitting the rookie wall there for a bit.

I’ve never disliked a former Heat player as much as I dislike Jimmy. Guy gets in my damn nerves now.

Incorrect...Heat should be open to moving anyone outside of Bam. Grasping on to mid prospects is what got us in this mess.
Disagree. Not even Bam should be safe. We are going to suck for the next few years. He will ask out. Sell Bam high right now, keep only rookie contracts, stockpile contracts, and go into a full rebuild. Also hope to high hell that you get a number 1 pick on a good year that you actually have picks.

The issue here is age. If we're "blowing it up" holding on to the oldest player of the bunch is probably the least sensible thing to do. In terms of acquiring a legitimate franchise type talent, there isn't a single untouchable player on this roster. I am inclined to lean towards the "keeper" list Wilt provided to improve the team, sans Jovic (who I like, he just wouldn't be a deal breaker for me). I also think Mitchell as a reserve looks better if we can improve the top 25-30% percentile of the roster cap wise.

Bulls with a huge win last night over Denver. For us to pass them up we’d have to go 8-3 while they go 5-5. We’re essentially locked in at 10th in the East

Give me intelligence over dumb-dumb youth any day of the week if the object is to indeed win games.
I too will always take the players with superior basketball IQ.
If you have a secret anti-aging formula, then you should have spoken up sooner so the Heat could have had the easiest solution possible--give it to Jimmy and agree to max out the newly rejuvenated Jimmy thru his age 37 season.
Absent that, you just seem to be emoting because you thrive in misery.
Unless you legitimately believe that the best way for the Heat to roster build to maximize their roster is to go all-in long term on investing in a player that is already at the historical cliff among NBA players for returning value as a max contract.
Like I've highlighted MANY times before, the number of NBA players that have returned value on a max salary at their age 37 season or beyond can be counted on one hand and they're exclusively top 10 players all time that are also the best scorers the game has ever seen.
I understand frustration about not getting prior deals across the finish line during Jimmy's window, but let's keep it real
I dont have the same concerns as you of Jimmy falling off a cliff in his age 37 year, but my focus was on the present in his age 35, and even his age 36 years, which I believe that had the team put the right pieces around him, Mia would be a viable championship contender, and that it would have been worth any falloff in his age 37 year which, again, I dont suspect will be as dramatic as some are forecasting it will be.
Jimmy tapped out when Miami didn't commit to extending thru his age 37 season.
The concerns are based in the fact that it's literally unprecedented for anyone who is not one of the best scorers of all time to return value at max contract at age 37.

Tonight will be first Heat game I watch in awhile I have been watching the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately I missed some of the 10 losses and Wiggins 42 point game.
ALso, saw about Jacquez and no idea what to think there.

Perfect young (no pun intended) backup to learn the ropes from his Oklahoma predecessor

Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 9
For all the weak takes about how the Heat failed Butler. Butler will be in the HOF because of his stint with the Miami Heat. If you take his career outside of the Miami Heat he would never make the HOF. The Miami Heat aka Pat Riley was the only franchise to give Butler his own team and not make him a side peice or complementery player. The Heat built the team to complement his talents and that got him to two NBA FInals and one conference finals with legendary moments. End of discussion
