I would also argue that with the known injury issues to Melo, Mark, and Miller the FO cannot claim competency by putting 5-7 guys on the roster who don't belong anywhere near a rotation.
Common sense dictates that an injury prone core needs a deep stable of quality backups.
The bottom like 8 roster spots are easily the worst in the league as evidenced by the team performance any time Melo isn't on the floor.
A serious FO with clear goals would not allow that to happen
Exactly
Rolling out LaMelo with nobody else behind him that can even masquerade as a viable backup PG, let alone a starting PG has been a recipe for disaster, basically forever in this franchise's history.
It was a severe issue even in the Kemba days and he was a legit iron man here. Our new age Ramon Sessionses and Michael Carter-Williamses actually have to play a lot now, and that's a problem.
We really need a fringe starter level PG as a long-term backup for LaMelo. Somewhere around the D'Angelo Russell caliber. Can't be spending another season going 2-30 or whatever we are when Melo is out.
Same kind of issue behind Mark because Nurk is very washed, and I don't really trust Diabate as a real starter even though I like him as a backup to 3rd string.
