For me it’s been chips and soda. I don’t buy 12 packs of soda except for when I’m having a gathering, and at one point it was like $11 for a 12 pack of coke. I remember when a 24 pack was $6 in college. The other one I noticed was deodorant. $9 for a stick of old spice? What the ****?

Funny thing is I've never really considered myself a sale or bargain shopper, but I came to the realization this year that I literally only buy groceries that are on sale. I just roll through isles looking for the tags. Sometimes I'm even indignant at the prices. "You expect me to pay THAT for bacon?" Just yesterday I had to text my family that Jacks pizzas were 5 for $10. They're probably sick of my **** but they're gonna save a buck.

Ok but Jack's pizza slaps.
It used to slap. Now they tend to cost almost $5 a pop with half the cheese and half the sauce that they used to have. And the crust is very cardboardish now.

Let me know if they've improved because I used to always have a stack on deck, but now I don't even consider them.

Me too. With all my food allergies/sensitivities I can be limited in what I can have and I get attached to some things over others as a result. Baked Lays are one of them. Not only are they now either 4.79 or 5.49, the bag is also smaller than it already was lol.

I don't help myself at all shopping at Hy-Vee. I hate the grocery options here. I wish we had a Kroger.

Soda prices are insane. I know I should stop drinking it but my caffeine addiction is in control. I'm thinking about getting one of those at home soda/seltzer machines.

I used to love picking up frozen pizzas. I got through college and grad school on super cheap frozen pizzas. But I feel like quality of the cheap ones has gotten to the point of being almost inedible, and the decent ones are getting so pricey that I don't get why I'd spend $7-$10 on one of those over a chain like dominoes or a costco pizza.

Agreed that chips and soda have gotten pricier. Cheap fast food is harder to find, too. Dollar menus seem to be a thing of the past. Just motivates me to cook a lot more at home.

By the way, I'm sure I've mentioned this here before, but my absolute favorite cheap snack are these tortilla pizzas. Seriously simple to make and very satisfying.

The thing with soda and chips is that you not only don't need them but probably shouldn't ever have them. They are pretty much empty calories that is horrible for you. Soda can easily be replaced by a drink mix, tea, coffee or just plain ice water.

Fast food go to has been Taco Bell app exclusives and subway. you can find gift cards every once in a while for 20% off and I stack up and use it for my road trip/vacation convenience food. They either have their $7 foot longs back or you can find codes online. I've given up on mcdonalds just due to the amount of time alone it takes to go through the drive through

PSA. The motor city frozen pizzas at costco are the best frozen pizzas I've ever had.

Total success this time around. Ended up with 14 pint jars of stock, and what was left over I reduced down to a demi-glace (which is ridiculously good).

Is this in reference to the nav bar? Tbh I didn't even notice because I literally only use my bookmarks to get here and to where I need to go.

Do y'all not see the very slightly reformatted post/thread, with cleaned-up quotes that scroll if they're super long?

ETA: It would be super bizarre if they did a limited feature rollout.

Maybe it's a mobile/web experience split then. The quote change is actually really nice. It limits a quote to ~15 lines of text it seems, so it doesn't make your page just scroll forever.

Yeah, it's nice. Can use the spoiler tag more judiciously now.
