Yeah if he wasn’t playing with no legs that’d be great but it’s not 5 years ago.

With the benefit of hindsight, would you rather have Kuzma and Sims or take a gamble on Midds’ health?

Everything bad that happens to this franchise gets magnified because they haven't been able to identify any young talent for years. Big opportunity for Porter Jr and Rollins to help this team out in a real way. I don't expect much but I'm begging they can show out.

Don’t think it matters I was driving the trade midds boat right after the title.

Ron Swanson wrote:You guys can crow about how “it didn’t matter if Dame was healthy” and I’m not even gonna disagree that a 2nd round exit was the most likely outcome of this season.

That we still haven’t and might never see a healthy Dame/Giannis play a single second of postseason basketball together is the biggest tragedy of this era of Bucks basketball. And it’s 100% fair to wonder if it left one more potential championship on the table.

I agree it absolutely sucks we’ll never see how significant that switch was when Playoff time came, but having watched the past two seasons of this team it’s hard to see them going on a Houston 1995 level Playoff run (the last team to win a title with <50 reg season wins).

There are some really difficult conversations this franchise needs to have this offseason but I suspect they’re going to keep holding out hope that this will all work out.

Not to sound insensitive, but this probably tanks any hopes of moving Dame for a decent haul this summer, right? Not too many avenues to meaningfully change things up if we keep Dame/Doc next season.

According to a league source who was close to the situation, concern about the nature of Lillard’s injury escalated on Thursday. He missed his first game that night, in Los Angeles against the Lakers, and continued experiencing discomfort and pain beyond the typical calf strain. The source said Lillard had experienced similar symptoms in the past and wanted clarity on the cause.

A rigorous discovery process began from there, with Lillard eventually visiting with five of the top hematologists in the United States, either in person (including at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix on Tuesday) or via Zoom. Each of the specialists received his MRIs and sonograms as part of the process. Lillard began taking blood thinners on Friday, the source said, adding that there are encouraging signs that the treatment is working well.

Rollins has been really good defensively, and when he's in, Giannis plays more PG, which is really effective. Which is why Giannis/Rollins lineups have been awesome, while Giannis/Dame lineups have been pedestrian.

I hope KPJ finishes, but I'm fine with Rollins starting for developmental purposes.

KPJ has already proven he can play at a high level with Houston. We need to see him with the starters. He may fizzle, but if he plays well it will make it easier to move on from Dame this summer. Rollins can back him up and still develop.

My deep, subject matter expertise on this- I don't like those little blood thinners. They're sneaky little "stings a bit more than you expect" injections.

That's all I've got.

tough news. glad they caught it for him.

but im not convinced this makes us all that worse honestly.

im not that convinced we were all that good to begin with tho either. we were always just a punchers chance team round to round.... maybe getting better switchable defense in the playoffs works better than losing a gunner tho.

if giannis is healthy and we go into the playoffs with a hungry underdog mentality it could still be a fun watch. hopefully we get the ball moving and giannis doesnt try to do too much.

wouldnt surprise me if he goes down too tho. hes kinda due himself

What's the pivot from Dame now? It's a lot trickier than it would have been had he been moved at this trade deadline or after a playoff masterclass.

He's a 35 yr old pg who there was no Dame time for & he still couldn't defend. He has a huge contract. And now a health question. What do you get?

Best wishes for Dame and his health.

I wonder if the finality that this announcement carries with it will be enough for Doc to reevaluate what he's working with. (Dear God, start KPJ and Trent)

It'd be something really flawed. I would actually want Kyrie in a sign and trade before that. Buy the dip. Hope he's ready for the playoffs.

Dame was a trade that Horst and company made to show Giannis we were all in and committed to winning a championship to keep him here and make him happy. Doc was a coaching hire to try and show Giannis that we’re willing to hire a coach with a popular name to keep him here. Both were awful moves all the way around. They didn’t get the right players or coach to fit in with him and win. Just names. They tried anyway I guess

Khris and Aj Johnson over Kuzma and Sims —- very clearly for me.
