This is why it's important for offensive players to get stronger, because it has a huge impact when it comes to attacking the basket and getting to the line. He hasn't bulked up significantly, but he is clearly stronger and actually uses his strength to bounce defenders off of him a lot more than he has in the past, and knowing he can do that now just continues to build his confidence to continue to attack players, even when they are bigger than he is.
In addition, his improved ball handling over the last few years has really helped unlocking his ability to create space from his defenders, or to get by them with his hesitation moves. Strength, and ball handling need to be two main focuses for Matas also, if he ever wants to level up as a player.
