This team made their bed when it comes to being a bottom dweller or not when they made the OG trade. They targeted players and not picks. Add that to having Scottie where Wash, Utah does not, and we are where we are supposed to be. The argument should be was it worth targeting IQ and RJ or going for picks. If we had a healthy IQ all year, we would have more wins as well.

I would be more upset if we sat at 7th with only Scottie on this team and we somehow grinded out meaningless wins.

The absolute best case is to jump into the top 2 or 3 IMO which would make this miserable year all worth it.

The only reason we even got to entertain the idea of tanking this season was injuries. Without injuries, this team is comfortably sitting in a play-in spot right now. Bottoming out was never on the table.

I agree. From 28 wins (which is where I think we end up) ... we probably can add another 5-6 best case. We would be a lot closer to Miami and Chicago today.

healthy and not tanking we'd be far better than bulls and heat. we'd also be better than hawks and magic. We'd be right below pistons.

Pretty much, I don't mind a debate over whether tearing it all down vs trading for RJ/IQ was the right move. That's tbd and arguments can be made on both sides. I think it was a good deal from an asset accumulation and value stand point but the path was clear once that move was made. You're not bottoming out with everyone healthy and if you are, the team is probably in very very bad shape paying the core that much money and still losing so many games unintentionally.

Thats a stretch. Pistons are at 41 wins with 10 games to go. We wouldn’t be plus 13-15 in the win column.
We would still be around Chicago/Miami.

Not interested in being better than a couple of mid teams currently . The objective is a top 4 conference contender.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

If you’re so invested in this draft then get excited about the potential players available instead of bitching and moaning about something that’s pretty much set now

Ah yes, the "You cant complain while it's happening, you dont know how it will pan out." which then always shifts to "You cant complain now, because it's set in stone, just go along for the ride."

The level of acceptance for mediocrity is astonishing with some of you, the whole "We're a lock for bottom 5" crowd sure changes their tune real fast when that lock no longer exists. People were excited about the draft because of the top 3-5, not the top 10, virtually no one is ever excited about picking 8th.

There’s no “we’re a lock for bottom 5 crowd” that switched takes. There’s a crowd that understood there’s only so bad this team would be and didn’t spend every second on here bitching and moaning after every win lol. In fact many called out that we would win a lot in the second half of the season. None of this is a surprise.

There are maybe 3 posters who want this team make the playoffs - everyone else would love a first overall pick. A big group of people understand that sometimes team are just worse than you or better than you at certain things because their roster allows them to be.

I think everyone understands that there are teams worse than us or have an easier remaining schedule than us that make it easier for them to out-tank us for the remainder of the way. This isn't the point of contention and if you're trying to divert in this direction, it's a straw man.

My thinking is the unhappy crowd believes in Go Big or Go Home, applied to tanking in this case. If the plan was to tank, then do so not halfheartedly but with 100% effort. But we won 8 of 10 in Jan and didn't truly commit to tanking until Feb. Not good to some, dreadful to others.

As of now, we sit 7th which means we have a greater chance of dropping down to a lower draft spot (48%) than moving up (32%). It's not ideal and some people are pissed at the FO. They have their point IMO. Now we have to rely more on luck in beating the odds in order to move up.

That is how you lose all credibility with your players. Mofo called a timeout earlier this season when Sexton was about to score an uncontested layup to win the game

Up yours man

Him and Ainge been playing tanking shenanigans all year and with 10 games left you call out the players? As if Utah didn’t have enough problems drawing players to their team.

^They're right and our FO should enforce things to make sure we don't play with any fire ie/ injuries or any flukish situation where MIA even has any remote chance of catching us. Just play nothing but the young guys, only bring back some of whoever is whining from the starters once it's OFFICIAL that we can't lose 7th and let this season go already.

I’m down with a good tank.

Utah wasted 2 years before going all in is my concern for that team.

Regarding my comment, I despise hypocrisy. That is ultimate hypocrisy from Hardy, imo.

Which is even sadder, had we not been besieged by injuries this year, we would be the text book definition of a treadmill team, with this draft we at least have a chance to add more talent. This weak ass FO was never going to actually tank, it's just frustrating that when you are forced into a tank, they still fight it for no reason.

It's wild to me, that this is such a difficult concept to grasp, we had 8 wins as of Jan 1st, this team was going nowhere this year, every single attempt to win was objectively a bad idea. We weren't in play in territory and then had terrible injury luck, we were the 3rd worst team in the NBA, there is no coming back from that with over a third of the season already done, and yet, we half assed it like we always do, and this is where we are.

We likely finish 7th, when we had a legit shot at 4th or 5th worst. Just such a pointless and stupid push forward for nothing.

Miami would have to lose their remaining 10 games and Raptors would have to win at least 7 games (of their remaining 10) to pass Miami.

5 of those remaining 10 games for Miami are against the Pels, Wizards (twice), and 76ers (twice).

It's damn near impossible to pass Miami at this point.

No chance. 5-6 games the most. Our schedule for the first 41 games were brutal.
