Genuinely think no 18 year old has been this good since LeBron.

Re: Cooper Flagg
30/6/7 with 1 steal and 3 blocks on 64 TS%.
And the stats don’t tell the whole story. Splitting double teams to hit a skip pass to the corner for an assist. Making 3 3s, attacking the basket, mid range jumpers, using his left hand.
And again this dude is the 4th youngest player in all of college basketball (4k+ players). Even though he’s playing a year of college basketball, he will be just 9 days older as a rookie as LeBron was.
I mean if he’s not a generational, prospect I don’t know what to say

Only pushback I would have is that Wemby was only two years ago and he was a better prospect. So in literal terms, “generational” is tough, unless you just stretch the definition to include multiple players per “generation”. I would just prefer to not use the word at all, it’s impossible to properly define and just leads to arguments. Just say he’s fantastic and incredible and all the other words.
Flagg is that level of rare talent though obviously

Cooper Flagg on the Rockets is the dream scenario. If all of the reports are true about the Rockets courting KD, then they might jump up to a championship favorite in 2026. Amen, Jalen, Cooper, Durant, Sengun, Tari, Bari, Brooks, Adams.

There are certain exceptions to this. Flagg being how young he is...to me at least, puts him over the top as far as generational. If he was a year older maybe not. Queen is 2 years older than Flagg for reference.

Might?
There's probably 15 teams in the league that would become championship favourites by adding Durant & Flagg.

It’s all semantics.
Would you take Flagg over Wemby? It’s a real debate, but I’d still take Victor. Thus, Flagg is not even the best prospect of the last 2 years let alone his generation.
But obviously the same was true of Magic/Bird and no one would say only one was generational while the other wasn’t. I just don’t think generational is a good word.

I agree. And this is where the “generational” tag gets pretty weird. It really becomes a debate on semantics. Because like ya, how can someone be considered “generational” if just 2 years ago there was another “generational” prospect.
I’ll just put it this way. Since the LeBron draft, I personally now have Flagg as the best prospect to come out of college.
I have him over AD and Zion now. AD’s defensive impact is probably greater, because he’s a big and rim protector. But Flagg is an elite defensive player at the 3-4 spot. And he’s a legit point forward on offense who can score at ease on all 3 levels. No one else checked off as many boxes at an elite level as Flagg.

Re: Cooper Flagg
This is my Duke bias showing. But I laughed out loud when the play by play guy brought up the fact Flagg has the best defensive metrics on Kenpom (college basketball’s most popular metrics), Flagg’s defensive metrics (no matter which one you look at) are all elite.
But I love how that was brought up and Jim Jackson immediately says “no, just no. He’s still learning on how to be a good defender.”
I mean dude, Flagg’s hype all started because he was viewed as the best defensive prospect to come out of high school since AD.

It is especially hard to call Flagg generational, when there are several highly anticipated prospects in next year class that are on his level

I wouldn’t say they’re on his level. Again to put things into perspective. Flagg is 1 month older than AJ and Boozer is about 6 months younger.
Flagg won the high school NPOY over both of those guys. Also this was before Flagg’s latest growth on the offensive end. Flagg was being talked as a possible generational prospect before he put up close to a 50/40/90 ACC conference play. And before he led Duke in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.
I’ll even just make the comparison straight to Boozer to take any kind of Duke bias out of this. Boozer isn’t on the same level as Flagg as a prospect. Don’t get me wrong, Boozer is a hell of a prospect. But he’s not Flagg.

Man he's a unique prospect. Not quite as big or athletic as I originally thought. Not to say he's not both. But the feel for the game is incredible. I haven't seen a comparison I like at all and I sure don't have one to offer.

I don’t like this draft after Flagg and very lukewarm on the Rutgers duo.

Happer is actually really good. But after he and Flagg I don't know what else is out there.

Luka won Eurobasket and made all tournament team at 18
