The Spurs would've been too good to draft Wemby in that scenario.

The masses turned on Hali in a split second. About a fast as anyone I've seen.

Generally the forum anoints someone the second coming way to soon, then can't wait to **** on them the first chance they get.

Maybe optimistic even knowing what we know now, but he’s insane enough of a talent that it’s not out of the realm of possibility. Let’s hope he can stay healthy.

Top 5 anything is a lot tougher than many people think, that's just the reality

I love low turnover guys. I think protecting the ball is the most underrated thing in the sport tbh

For real. You traded him to keep De’Aaron Fox who you just traded for Zach Lavine to create the Bulls 2.0? What a move.

I'm not sure why people keep going on with this narrative. They didn't trade Haliburton "to keep" Fox. They traded Haliburton, because Fox had just signed a new contract, and he and Haliburton were not fitting together, so Fox's numbers were down as he was having to play off ball more. Fox was viewed as a bad contract at the time and had no real trade value. I'm sure the Kings would have rather kept Haliburton at the time, but the reality was they were stuck with Fox and had to move one of them.

They traded him for a young all NBA big man. What Fox did or didn’t do 3 years later isn’t fully in their control. I love Hali but I’m personally good with Sabonis who is doing what few big men can do (before the recent injuries) somehow having 3 winning seasons in a row in the impossible western conference.

I don't disagree, and with there being many styles of PGs, the list expands. As far as him being a top 5 PG as far as running an offense and getting assists, I do think that is very attainable for Haliburton, and I don't say that lightly. Mind you, I'm a bit biased, but the numbers he has put up, especially this early in his career, are remarkable. He's an elite playmaker.

You’d think they traded Jason Kidd for Greg Ostertag the way the narratives go around here

I get some level of criticism, but the Kings hands were kinda tied at the time and they made the best move they could make in order to get back to the playoffs.

I think if you have a player like Haliburton in your building, and you're seeing him every day, I don't know how you trade a talent like that. At the same time, they couldn't trade Fox, and Fox and Haliburton can't play together, so getting a guy like Domas makes a lot more sense fit wise, but its still tough to give up a talent like that. I love Domas by the way, he's a great player, I think he has limitations that make him tough to build around, but still want the best for him and will always be rooting for him.

If it makes you feel any better the Bulls drafted Patrick Williams at #4 that year.

Sigh.

Wait, what!? CP3 played like 8000 games in the NBA and was one of the ultimate high assists, low turnover guy. That's a crazy stat.

I try to keep a level head. Haliburton wasn’t playing well for most of the first half of the year. The criticism was warranted if sometimes excessive. People wondered why and thought maybe some off court stuff was having an impact. Some wondered if it was an injury. Either way, he wasn’t good. He has played well in the second half. Glad to see it myself. He is fun to watch when he’s playing his best. He does have some truly elite skills you can’t really teach.

I didn’t even pay any mind to the trashing/ piling directed at him early on. He had an “eventful” summer I guess, stuff happens.
I don’t watch a lick of college basketball and I took a shine to him simply based off his draft evaluation. I was like oh **** he sounds good af. My Hawks were forced to take Onyeka Okongwu over him. Who I like but dammit man.

Draft misses happen.

But after seeing his performance, actually giving the man a 5 year 90 million contract is genuinely insane. The Bulls' office is operating in an alternate dimension.

he is the new point god

assist to TOV ratio for his career is 4:1

and he averages 8.8 assists for his career

Comparable to CP3, and that # is going to go up based on his most recent years.

Fortunately for the GSWs they moved on. The Bulls gave Patrick Williams a five year 90 million dollar contract.
